I purchased two books this morning. I wanted them on both my Nook 3G and my Touch, so I turned the wifi on for both. (The 3G is just the name -- it has never worked for me!)
Both books downloaded onto the 3G and opened, no problem. When I looked for one on the Touch, it wasn't in my library. I finally made it appear by shopping for it on the Touch. :-\
Then I looked for the second book and it *was* in my library, but when I tried to open it, I was told I needed to unlock it with my credit card. I've never had to unlock a B&N book that was sent via wifi before and wonder why on earth I should have to now.
The customer service bot was no help, big surprise. Anyone know what might have happened?

The CC is part of the copy-protection key.
You probably entered a different card number on the touch before so you didn't have to enter THAT code again. But, now, it's encountered a file created with a new card.
Just put the number in. It's just used to unlock the file. And, once you do, you won't have to enter the card again.

I haven't changed my card. There's no logical reason for it to require a card from me all of a sudden.

And it just did it again -- the book didn't appear until I went into shop and looked for it, and then it asked for my credit card. This was a book that someone had gifted to me. :-\
Turning it off and back on seems to have fixed that, but I'm still having the glitch with the original book.

I've had a couple of times where I've had to re-enter my card number. It never happened on the N1E (nook 3g), ever, but has happened once, maybe twice on the N2E (Simple Touch). It's as if the N2E gets confused. I've just entered the card number again and everything was fine. If for some reason it's not fine, or it says you have the wrong card number, you can archive the book online, sync the nook to remove the book, and then unarchive it and let it re-download to the nook. You should probably do this with the N1E's wifi turned off, so you don't have to re-download it on that device also.
As for the books not showing up when you turn wifi on - you've already found the best solution for that. Turning it all the way off and then back on again usually fixes that issue.
