Why does NOOKstudy not work on my NOOK?

In the past 2 years the tablets on the market have increase exponentially in power and ability. When will Barnes and Noble get with the times and release Nook Study for Nook. This is the only reason I do not have a Nook

I wish I had read this before I spent money on the etextbooks!!!!  It won't work on my nook, and it doesn't work on the nook app on my iPad!  What a joke!!!!!  Plus, I can't search for anything in the textbook!  What was the point?  I would have just bought the hard copies!
