Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

I can't open Nook Study

So back in November I was trying out Nook Study. I had a few trial textbooks on it and it was great but I decided it wasn't for me. Now, with a new semester, I can't open Nook Stuy. It will not go past the Loading Library screen with the moving green bar. I can get into settings, I can sign out, I can change my password, etc. But in that window the Loading Library part of the screen with the moving bar is obscuring most of it. I have gone into my Nook account on bn.com and deleted all the expired books. I have modified my firewall settings so that Nook study can be accessed both in Private networks and Public networks (the modification was to add public).

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium with a 1.4GHz dual core processor with 4 GB of RAM.

What puzzles me is that the program WAS working and now it's not.

Re: I can't open Nook Study

Have you got a resolution to this problem. I'm having the same problem with mine and NookStudy support has not provided me with any advice or direction on how to resolve the issue and this is after a couple phone calls and emails.

Re: I can't open Nook Study

No I have not. I don't have any Nook textbooks so it isn't an issue but I may end up calling 1800-the-book soon

Re: I can't open Nook Study

I've called 1800-the-book twice now. The last time I spoke with them one of the level 2 techs informed me that this is becoming a common problem but the tech team has not found a fix yet. I did find out tonight that if I log out of my account and log back in to Nook Study using my wifes BN account the program works perfect. Tells me it has to do with the account not the software.

Re: I can't open Nook Study

I too am having this problem.  I had a E textbook for the fall semester Nook Study worked fine from August through December.  My new class just started again I went with a Nook Study E textbook and tried to open nook study.  It just sticks at the loading library screen.  In reading this forum I found many others are having this issue.  One person stated if they used another account they had no issue.  I just created a new account and it loaded just fine.  Before I did this I uninstalled and reinstalled the program downloading it fresh from the website.  I restarted my computer between the uninstall and reinstall.

I have Windows 7 on an intel core i7 processor.  I have 8 gb of ram and 1 tb harddrive.

Clearly it is not a computer issue if by just changing what account I am using the program works fine.  I hope that this problem can be resolved quickly because I would not want to have to make a new account each semester.  Thank you!

Re: I can't open Nook Study, one fix available now!

Here is the answer for users that have Win7 and get the cannot login error.

Please open your library on bn.com and remove any catalogs you may have in there.  Then remove and reinstall the app and you should be good to go.

If you still have the issue please PM me and I will look into it further but this appears to be the fix.

Aloha!

I can confirm this I have been working with Barnes and noble support and this was their conclusion too.
