So, I just downloaded NOOKstudy, and I was really excited about it. Note the usage of the past tense there.
Why is the NOOKstudy app for Snow Leopard only? We haven't all upgraded to that OS yet. Is there any way to run it in 32-bit instead of 64? Is B&N ever going to release a version for 10.5.x and under?

I saw another post about this, and the reply was that it isn't available for previous versions right now because of some of the specific things that NOOKstudy needs to use. The older versions don't support those, but they're hoping to figure out how to fix that.

Thanks for passing on the response. Yes, Mac operating systems older than 10.6 do not have the latest code libraries that we used for all great features in NOOKstudy. We’re evaluating our options on backwards compatibility in light of how quickly operating systems update as well. We sincerely hope that once you upgrade to Snow Leopard, you’ll be able to enjoy the versatile toolset available in this free application.

Hummm, the only reason I bought the Nook today was because of NookStudy and Nook ereader. If I have to buy a new mac in order to use these features, this NOOK is going straight back where it came from. Foolish Barnes and Noble. Do you think all students can AFFORD to upgrade to new OS and new computers just to play with your store?

$30 may be a hardship for you, but you should know that provided you have an Intel-based Mac, $30 is all it costs to upgrade. I installed 10.6 specifically for Nookstudy. Aside from some difficulty copying and pasting out of regular ebooks, it is a wonderful product.
Please note also that regular ebooks do work in Nookstudy, and the free ebooks you receive work on the iPad as well, and probably the Nook. Textbooks do not.
In general, it is a much nicer product than the ebook reader for Mac B&N put out before Nookstudy.

that is true, but also you should know that there are other web pages that allow you to download the textbook and the software without having to upgrade your computer. I just bought the e textbook because I needed it right now, and I just found out that I cannot see the book because I have a 10.5.8 os, I can't go right now and by the 10.6 snow leopard upgrade, so I am screwed. I am just trying to get a refund and buy it from www.coursesmart.com, because this is trully the worst service ever. It should be a huge sign saying: "HEY YOU CANNOT READ THE BOOK IF YOU DONT HAVE SNOW LEOPARD 10.6" .
