I feel quite limited by the small quantity of applications and would love to see them open up the marketplace!

This kind of reminds me of how the apple app store started out. There were a bunch of suboptimal apps that were originally paid that now are offerred for free. As more apps get into the Nook app market the quality will slowly increase as will the bang for your buck. In the meantime, we have to make due with a very limited selection.
I bought this primarily for my 4yo son for learning purposes, but in retrospect I wish I just got him an iPad. He ends up using my iPad because the are much better apps for learning. Additionally, the experience is much smoother on the iPad.

The only reason I didn't go for the Ipad is because of the price tag. I thought the nook tablet would be a better substitute. I was wrong *sigh*

BN marketing is brain dead...
I have the NC from last year, and was wondering if there is a difference between the "quantity" of apps avail for the NC vs the newer NT ?
There are so many things missing - it's like they totally ignored the entire Android Marketplace, and just had some kids in a garage develope a handful of new apps for the BN walled prison of apps.
BTW - I haven't been here for awhile - as I run the N2A SD Card to give me full Android access, and I LOVE IT....

The BN Store is total crap. They need to get better Dev's. Seriously they don't have Facebook? or Google Apps. There's only a handful of good applications in the store. I'm awaiting my SD card to root the Nook to get android market.

i agree best thing for BN is to open the NT and NC. There is such a small choice of apps. I would still buy books at BN,,, love the stores coffee shops,,,,, Now with the NT I can read more easy, bad eyes, at night etc,,,,, JUST open the NT to other apps.............

I agree with kalmore that Google apps would be nice (gmail in particular). But as far as Facebook goes, I've seen a lot of talk/complaints in these forums about the lack of a dedicated FB app. But the mobile FB page looks and works just like the app on iPhone, so I don't really see the need for a separate app for it, unless you'd like to have an icon on your home page for it...
What would ge great is a Spotify app. The mobile Facebook sidebar points to a download of it, so it appears that it's compatible, but it's blocked by the 'new' sideloading rules.

BN needs to get us more apps. I would love access to more apps, esp texting app like text plus. Who really wants to take and root with SD in order to get them.
Open the market up, I bought this unit because of its potential, along with it is over all the better of the ereaders in my book.
Hope BN is listening, they do have a lot of fans but do more with the apps and you will get even more!

I have the NC - and bought the N2A SD Card, and have never looked back.
Unfortunately, the N2A SD Card does NOT work with the Nook Tablet,
because the NT bootloader process is different than with the NC - and the N2A SD Card will not boot.
It's so easy to get the rest of the Android world with this card on the NC....
I have the BN Nook app, along with the Kindle app, and all the other REAL apps that I use to watch my financial investments, browse, etc.
To me - all the BN walled garden apps are just TOYS....
Where are the normal Android apps to connect back to the grownup world - Chase, Schwab, Fidelity, etc
or any other NON-boolstore real world business app - NONE are included.... but they of course exist.

Not true anymore. The N2A card people have released one for the Tablet within the last week or so. Reports so far are that it works just fine.

WOW - thanks -
noticed that the banner on the home mention didn't have any BIG announcement - really dumb on their part.... but the old "Tablet in development" was gone... so they got it 1/2 right for marketing.
Here's the store
basically the only way to tell they now support the 16GB Tablet.
It appears there is a problem with the newly avail 8GB Tablet

I've been toying with the idea of getting the N2A card...but it looks more and more that it will be the only way to get any decent apps on this thing. The Nook Apps selection sucks.

The B&N market is limited, but it is growing every week. If I were you, I wouldn't buy a n2a card, I would make one. Personally I do not feel that $30-$60 is worth it (rough estimate on pricing). Especially if B&N releases an update that isn't compatible.
I truly believe that B&N will open up a bit in the future. If they don't, they are crippling their own business.
