A few questions about MyNOOK.com...

Hi everyone,

B&N would like to thank you all for your continued support. We know that many of you use the My NOOK portal regularly and we would like to hear your feedback on the experience.

Please share your thoughts with us regarding the below:

How often do you use MyNOOK.com?

Do you find it easy to locate? Navigate?

Are there any features that you would like to see changed? Added?

If you don't use the My NOOK portal, why don't you?

Feel free to add any other feedback, we'd love to hear it!

Re: A few questions about MyNOOK.com...

I have no complaints about the already available features.

Will restate a frequent request though:

Would love to be able to save current device settings and preferences (such as shelves and app data backups) so that Erase/Deregister is less of a nightmare. MyNook seems to be a perfect place to do that.

If data/server allocation is a problem, limit it to a certain number of profiles or something.

Re: A few questions about MyNOOK.com...

I haven't looked at it much since it was first unveiled.  It's easy enough to find and I already provided a list of features that I think should be added.  Without additional features, it just doesn't do a lot for me.

[ Edited ]

mynook needs to let us do more on a per-device basis than trigger an erase and deregister.

I just took a look, and it would be great if it let us manage subscriptions (so that the gynormous New Yorker volumes wouldn't even try to land on my NC or NT) or select which device had which apps.

It actually seems less like "my nook" than it does "my library."

I was disappointed recently that when I archved magazines on the NT they were also archived on the NST.  It those commands could be issued per-device rather than per-library that would be very helpful.

Re: A few questions about MyNOOK.com...

I rarely use NyNook, I don't find it any different than my eBook Library was.

What would make it useful to me is:

  • Ability to manage shelves on a per device basis. I went through all the trouble of setting up shelves for over 400 eBooks on my N1E, only to lose all shelving information when the NOOK was reset.

  • Ability to control which books are downloaded to which device, on a per device basis. Otherwise the number of books that can be left un-archived is determined by the device with the least amount of available B&N storage, in this case my N2E.

Re: A few questions about MyNOOK.com...

I didn't know there was a mynook.com.  But then I rarely find the need to go to my library on line except to delete a book from my nook 1E.  Now that I have the tablet, I can delete directly off the nook.

I do agree with the suggestion of being able to save settings and and data back-ups.  I'm on my second nook tablet (first was returned) and it is a real hassle to manually re-enter bookmarks, passwords, etc. as well as lose all game data.

Re: A few questions about MyNOOK.com...

How often do you use MyNOOK.com?

I do not use it much because it seems redundant. There isn't anything to draw me to it as I can just us my nook instead.

Do you find it easy to locate? Navigate?

Sure, it is simple to use. Easy to find

Are there any features that you would like to see changed? Added?

I would use it more if it had other useful features like dealing with adding and maintain shelves here. Also, I have 3 nooks; N1E, NC, & NT. I would like that they all show up, not just the NC & NT. Someone else asked to be able to archive some books on one unit but leave them on the other. I think that is a wonderful option to have. I would love to be able to pick which books go to which nook. I also agree that our wishlists should be here as well. I am usually checking my wishlist several times a week. Links to the forums is a plus too.

I also think that maybe here is where you should try something new with Nook Friends. Maybe have something to where others can find new friends by what genre we like to read. I once tried a new nook friend and he was upset that I mostly read romance. "I'm a girl, I'm a sucker for a happy ending!" :smileywink:

If you don't use the My NOOK portal, why don't you?

As it stands now there is no need for me to go there. I just use my nook. If improvements like the ones above were made then I would use it a lot more.

Re: A few questions about MyNOOK.com...

How often do you use MyNOOK.com?

 Not really all that often.

Do you find it easy to locate? Navigate?

I find it easy to locate on computer and to navigate.  On the Tablet, the B&N site makes it difficult.  I don’t go to the B&N site on my Nooks.

Are there any features that you would like to see changed? Added?

I would love to see it hooked up to “My B&N”.  I set this up before, put a bit of time into it, now it is discarded, wasted.  So why bother with this.?  Not sure if it makes it all that more useful, and I think that is why a lot of people are not using it as much, because we did this before.  Oh, and speaking of that, there are some sites that we have put a lot of effort into…it would be nice to also link up with my other readings sites (ie goodreads), I mean I only come to B&N for Nook related stuff. (BTW, goodreads has a direct link to you all so if I’m interested in a title, I go directly there)

If you don't use the My NOOK portal, why don't you?

Mostly because I did all this before, so not sure if this would be in vain again…see previous answer(did all this for “My B&N”) and because of this, and other literary sites, it's, as others have posted, redundant.

Re: A few questions about MyNOOK.com...

I'm not sure if this relates to MyNOOK.com or B&N.com in general, but:

1. I wanted to check gift card balances, but could not. The system asks for the card number and PIN just to check a balance, long after the card was first added to my account. IMO, that's absurd. Once I've logged in to the website, why can't you just show me my balances? I've already provided my credentials, and you've already authenticated the gift card data. If I can see card balances on the Nook itself, why not via the website?

2. There should be a single, unified Wish List that is accessible from my NT or on MyNook.com/B&N.com. If necessary, segregate the items on it by category (downloadable or hard goods), but do not require me to keep track of multiple lists.

Thank you.

Re: A few questions about MyNOOK.com...

to check the balance on an existing gift card click on Manage Gift Card in your Account Settings of My Account page. It is under   GIFT CARDS/CERTIFICATES.

Do not click on Check Balance.

Hope this helps .

Re: A few questions about MyNOOK.com...

I have been a Nook user for quite some time and didn't even notice there was a mynook.com.  I usually go through my account on Barnes & Noble for managing my nook, it does save a few steps to get there, but I'd like to see it more like our Nook interface, because it is acutally easier to manage everything from the Tablet itself.  It was useful with the NE1 for managing, but the Tablet has it all.
