Can you tether new Nook tablet to android smartphone

I have the HTC Incredible 2, which has the capability to act as a 3G hotspot for another wireless device, like a laptop. Thus, could I access the internet on the new Nook tablet thru my phone if say I was on the beach or in a plce with no free wifi? If so, how? Hubby asking for an ipad to read mail, edit email docs, and look things up on the web. Thinking that the nook tablet might be a cheaper and better alternative since that is all he wants to do.

As long as your device can support an infrastructure wireless network (and I believe most of them can) then your NOOK, iPad, etc will not even know it is connecting to the internet via your cell phone.

As for how you do this, that is between you and your wireless carrier. I know that AT&T (my provider) charges an extra $10 a month to use my phone as a mobile hotspot (which fee I can avoid if I root my phone). This of course is a much better deal than if I had to pay an additional $35/month for a data plan for my iPad.

I use my HTC Inspire as a mobile hotspot if needed for my NOOKcolor, so no doubt it can be used for the Tablet as well.  It's funny that I've rarely had to use it since almost everywhere I go there is wifi nearby, but it is great to have.

I frequently use my Android smartphone as a mobile wifi hotspot. Works fine with my Nook Color so there shouldn't be any issues with the Nook Tablet. Bear in mind most carriers now charge extra for running your phone as a hotspot (I'm grandfathered with my carrier so my unlimited data includes working as a hotspot).

I would assume so since I can even due it with my Nook 1st Ed. It just reads it as a wifi hotspot.

What type of connection device do you use?  My Nook Tablet and Droid phone use the same plug size

The "tether" referred to here is a wireless connection, not a physical one.

I do this all the time with my Nook Tablet and Nook Color (as well as my Nook Simple Touch) using the mobile hotspot capability that came free with Android 2.2.
