Nook Tablet 16GB - In store memory partitioning change will become possible

Just noticed this footnote in todays NT specs:

NOOK Tablet- 16GB: 1GB = 1 billion bytes. Actual formatted capacity may be less. 13GB for content, of which 12GB is reserved for NOOK Store content. If you want additional memory for personal content, you may use a microSD card of up to 32GB. If you want to re-configure the internal memory of your NOOK Tablet-16GB for additional personal storage, you need to visit your local Barnes & Noble on or after 3/12/12 for help in doing so.

Absolutely not...NO WAY...am I letting any of the employees at my local B&N touch my NT.  They don't know what they are doing now...what reassurance do we have that they won't mess up our devices.  I'm sure there are many wonderful "Nooksperts" out there...they just aren't at my local store.  They are all a bunch of cranky, mean old people at my store.  And I do mean mean!!!!

Re: Nook Tablet 16GB - In store memory partitioning change will become possible

Questions:

1. Will the NT partition resizing be standardized, or will I have options?

2. Will I have the option of a single partition for all internal storage? That's what I would prefer.

1, According to this PC magazine article:

"For the $249 16GB version, meanwhile, Barnes & Noble announced plans for a March software update that will allow users to flip their tablet's storage allocation. Users will have the option for 5.5GB of Barnes & Noble content and 8GB for personal content. When it's available, users can bring their Nook to a Barnes & Noble store for the update. After that, users can choose which storage option they want when purchasing the 16GB Nook Tablet.".

2. The way Android works there will probably  always be a separate partition for apps. This is also the case with the Kindle Fire, which has only 1GB available for apps (I believe apps are allowed to store some of their data outside this parttion).

According to what I read on the B&N site this morning you can take your Nook 16 to a B&N store now and they will repartition the memory into the alternative scheme.  This is from the Nook Tablet description page; note 7.

7NOOK Tablet- 16GB: 1GB = 1 billion bytes.
