Bookmarks take me to the wrong page

After using the Nook app on my tablet for a long time I decided to purchase a nook today. I pulled my library over fine, but when I try to go the the only page bookmarked on my new nook, it takes me to the wrong page. I have bookmarked page 1179, but when I tap that page in my bookmarks, it takes me instead to page 215. Is there any way to fix this or did I make a poor decision in purchasing a nook?

Re: Bookmarks take me to the wrong page

This is something I haven't had a problem with until recently.  Now it happens almost every time I try to open the book I'm currently reading.  I end up having to set a bookmark manually, and even after I do that, it won't go to the bookmarked page.  The only way I can find my place is to go to Content and find my current bookmark that way.  When I eventually get to the right page, it shows my bookmark is there, right where I put it but the nook just doesn't seem to find it.  This is an extremely annoying problem!  I don't want to spend the first five minutes of my reading time looking for the page I left off on.  This is pretty much the worst problem an eReader can have.  If it can't even keep track of my bookmarks, it makes the whole reading app useless and it's further frustrating because unlike many other people, I did buy the tablet as a reading device.

Re: Bookmarks take me to the wrong page

Unless you pull up the bookmark list, it will go to the first bookmark that the system finds in that book. For example, if you had gone back to page 100 and page 215 was the next bookmark, it would go to page 215. The bookmarks deeper in the book would be on the bookmark list. Hope that this helps.

The thing is, it takes me to page 1, every time.  It won't even take me to any bookmark.  For some reason it's not even looking for bookmarks.  When I finally get to the correct page, my bookmark shows up, so I know it saves it.... just doesn't go there on it's own.

I had a similar issue. The Nook expert at my local store had me archive/unarchive the book and the problem disappeared.

Thanks tvd, I'll give that a try and let you know if it worked.

Hmmmm... can't archive it.  It's not a nook book, it's a freebie.  I'm almost done with it anyway, but I'll keep your suggestion in mind and hopefully, it won't happen with the next book.  Interestingly enough, it didn't happen with this book until I downloaded a book from B&N and took a quick look at it, after that, I noticed this problem cropped up.  Could be somehow related.

I don't think that saved pages and bookmarks work for content not purchased from B&N.  Those items would not appear in your MyNook account.  Unless I'm missing something that you are saying.

Actually, bookmarks work just fine on content not purchased through B&N.  I've never had any problem with it in the past.  I can bookmark pages, but also, it will automatically remember where I left off in the book and open it up at that point the next time I want to read, just like a nook book.  Since the start of this post, I've started another book (non nook book) and it remembers my place just fine.  Still not sure why the last one developed this problem 3/4 of the way through it.

Re: Bookmarks take me to the wrong page

I usually put the book that I am reading on the Home Screen.  I have one non-BN book that I had trouble with.  If I was using another app and touched the book symbol in the status bar to go back to reading, it would open the book at page 1 instead of where I left off.  If I went to the home screen and touched the book, it opened to the correct page. All of my other non-BN books work fine. I don't know what it is about that one book.

Re: Bookmarks take me to the wrong page

If you still have the original download of the book on your computer, you can recopy it to your Nook and/or delete the book from your Nook and recopy it to the Nook. Also, you could try loading it to your Nook using the program Calibre. You can get Calibre at: http://calibre-ebook.com/download

I meant the syncing of bookmarks to MyNook account which will allow syncing across devices.  I should have been clearer as that was what the OP was having an issue with.

Yes, Calibre is a great program.  I use that too.  Next time I run into this problem (if I do), I'll try removing the book from my nook, and reloading again from Calibre and see if that helps.  Thanks.
