I just have to start out with....B&N needs to step up their game in the apps catagories if they are to compete with other tablets. Here are a few that I would love to see:
- Starbucks - not sure why we don't have that one since they offer Starbucks in the stores!
- Directv - now avail on "other" tablets, and with millions of subscribers, would be great to have & would be a good way to get more Nook customers!
- GasBuddy - gas price checker. Everyone else has it, why not the Nook?
- QVC - since they do sell Nooks now and then....
- Ubuntu file share app, for the linux users
- Realtor.com app
I love my Nook and use it as a tablet as well as an e-reader, would love to see more offerings in those catagories that are more usefull instead of all the games that are showing up.
Solved! Go to Solution.

The "Starbucks" that you see in most BN stores has no affiliation with the coffee chain. BN basically just pays Starbucks for their coffee and frap mixes and a licencing fee to slap the logo on the signage. Outside of that, there is nothing in common between the companies.
As for apps, remember that while BN evangelizes as much as possible, the easiest way to get an app into the NOOK store is to email the developer directly. Developers will develop for a platform that has potential customers, so show them that there are people waiting for them.

I know there is no affiliation with Starbucks, but it seems the app would be in the store since they are "branding" with the logo. Great idea about contacting the developers, never really thought about that. Will put that on my list.
Thanks for the feedback!

Gee, if B&N didn't lobotomize the NT by blocking sideloading, we wouldn't have to listen to B&N and developers passing the buck and making excuses back & forth.

I never understood why people want a Facebook and Youtube app (in your examples). An app makes sense on a smartphone with the smaller screen, but are you having trouble using the web browser on your Nook? I use fb and youtube all the time on mine. Genuinely curious...

Yep and got tired and lost my faith with B&N way lacking in fixes and feature upgrades and Apps! Went to Cm7 on SD card and never looked back.
If it is a real issue to you. Then don't hold your breath and lower your expectations and live with it. Otherwise you can go my route and forget about waiting on B&N which I gave up on after 2 years with false hope it would get better.

Ummm sorry meaning my total experience with B&N was 2yrs as bought the original classic nook. And Nook Color wan't released till June 2011? trying to remember when I got mine.
Then it wasn't about Apps so much wanting to get B&N to actually fix issues and expand on lacking basic features that all the other readers had.
Just making the point that from the beginning B&N has pretty much ignored the customers requests.

BN didn't even launch their app store until the last week of April 2011.
And BN does listen to customer requests. There are tons of examples of it throughout the NOOK ecosystem. It just so happens that the single request you harp on continuously (Google Play) is not going to happen, for tons of logistical, business, and customer service reasons.

I'm talking of the lack of features in e-reading here and the constant ignoring of outstanding bugs. And their lack of improving the default ereader.
And how that may translate to lack of response for more apps in B&N's Garden.
As to the tons of examples that would be more of complaints and of ongoing problems and for ever feature you can show me that B&N added due to customer suggestions. I can find 10 features and 10 ongoing bug complaints that weren't addressed.

Yeah, 22 months is not 2 years, please get your facts straight.
4 Nook Household, 2 NOOKs, 2 NOOKcolors
