Home Screen settings going back to a couple of months ago settings

I can change things around on my home page, rearrange books and apps or change my wallpaper.  When I shut down my Nook Tablet in order to get the Wi-Fi to reset.  When my device comes back on, my home screen goes back to a previous setting... its like I never did any of those things.  The only reason I say a few months is because I read The Real Simple Magazine January 2013 edition couple of months ago and when my nook gets messed up the message at the top Keep Reading says the January 2013 edition of Real Simple Magazine.

This has been happening multiple times over the last month.  This is getting ridiculous.

Does anyone have an idea why this is happening?  What can I do to correct this?

Any information would be great!

Re: Home Screen settings going back to a couple of months ago settings

twoshay2, I had this happen for a stretch last year. Couldn't figure out how to fix it.

Only thing I can think of is that the data/settings that are saved for where you've put everything - those aren't being saved.

Think of it as a small storage file that lists where everything is.

Normally when you do a change - it should save all that information.

Then on start - it should load that up.

*****

It seems that either

A) It isn't saving the information.

or

B) When it comes time to get the information it's loading from the wrong part of the file or from a wrong file.

*****

Perhaps you can do these three things

1) Restart by pressing and holding N button and Power button for 30 seconds.

2) Check and make sure that no strange or unknown apps are running on your system.

3) Go to Settings > Device Information and check the lines for

Storage for B&N Content

Storage for Other Content.

ARe either of them full?

Thanks 5ivedom.  Did all three of your suggestions, but the problem is not resolved.

I obtained App Killer and could not see any unusual apps

Storage for B&N Content = 85% available

Storage for Other Content = 97% available

Any other suggestions?

twoshay, not at the moment.

I'm trying to think of what else might cause your home screen settings to get lost and I'm not sure.

Do you have a specific live wallpaper or wallpaper set?

You could try changing it to something else.

I have given up. I tried to erase and deregister and it only completed the deregister part. I call customer service twice and did not get a resolution. I guess it will be used as a paperweight or doorstop. Good Bye Barnes and Noble.

I think you should give it another shot.

Did you try the restart where you press the physical n button (the one below the screen) and the power button at the same time and hold for 30 seconds?

When you say it only did Deregister, and not Erase, what do you mean? Does it still start, just has same data?

Re: Home Screen settings going back to a couple of months ago settings

I gave it another shot and took my Nook Tablet into a Barnes & Noble for support service. Long story short, the customer support and the actual customer service on the phone came to the same conclusion. "We have never seen this issue before and we don't know what to do"
We did try the factory reset multiple times with no success. The erase and deregister completed the deregistration, but left my Nook with all the same content and no way to register the Nook back to my account

Sorry to hear that! Is it still under warranty?

What did the B&N store staff offer as a next step?
