Re: Netflix not working

There is a physical n button below the screen.

It looks like a lower case N.

It's right below the screen. IT'll be in silver. Just press that. It's called the Nook button I think.

Re: Netflix not working

I have tried this fix and it is saying "incorrect username or password".  Those are correct as Netflix still works on other devices in our home.  I also cannot use the app as some have indicated they are able to do without being linked.  I just get a black screen.  I have also tried to "forget" the wireless connection and reboot with no luck.

Help!!!!

Re: Netflix not working

Are you logging in via the app or in Settings?

Settings doesn't work.

Just download the app and login within the app itself.

Re: Netflix not working

I have the same issue. Also, when I go back to try to install Netflix in the shop and touch on "FREE" then "CONFIRM" it prompts me "Unable to purchase. This item is not currently available for download to the product you are using." My Netflix on my NookColor was working fine up until about 2 weeks ago and still unable to resolve. The NOOK specialist at BN store asked me to go home and make sure my Netflix was updated. It is....allegedly...still same issue with black/grey screen once Netflix launches. Then I tab back and the screen asked if I wanted to exit Netflix. Ongoing issues still unsolved. I need help too...

Re: Netflix not working

The solution posted here does not work.  I, as well as others, appear to not be able to enter our credentials to relate our Netflix account, so cannot proceed to next step to reboot, etc.

I am getting same behavior as others:

1. I select the Netflix app.

2. it starts up and then goes to blank screen and neve prompts to login.

I am able to login to other nooks (color version only).  My Nook tablet will not login as described.

Please anyone Help!

Re: Netflix not working

Yeah, this is an on-going problem.  It simply does not work.  Hulu works, everything else that uses the internet works, Netflix loads but does not get past the gray screen.   I've done everything except completely unregister and reregister my nook.  What's the deal?

Re: Netflix not working

I have been having this same problem for about a month. Netflix worked fine on the Nook Tablet for 6 months before. then.

None of the above solutions work.  I have "rebooted", and tried on different wifi networks.

1.  When I open Netflix application the usual screen comes up but immediately goes black and appears to hang/be stuck.  I usually exit or force close..

2.  In App Settings/Configure Netflix Account it does not recognized my valid login and password.  The same login and password work on other devices, including other nook tablets.

I contacted Barnes and Noble, they suggested rebooting my wifi network, which I did and the same problem occurs and the same problem occurs no matter which wifi network I am using anyway.

Re: Netflix not working

This part is irrelevant. It doesn't work for most people.

This:

*****

In App Settings/Configure Netflix Account it does not recognized my valid login and password.  The same login and password work on other devices, including other nook tablets.

*****

You just have to start app and login using the app. Don't go to App Settings and Configure NEtflix Account. If there's a way to remove it from there, then do so.

Re: Netflix not working

My husband was having this same trouble. I deleted the netflix app, then powered off the nook. Turned the nook back on, reinstalled the netflix app, and so far it is working fine.

Re: Netflix not working

To delete an app:

Press and Hold the app icon for 2-3 seconds.

A menu will come up. Delete will be one of the options.

Note: Nook Color did not have Netflix preinstalled. So for it you can delete Netflix.

I think Nook Tablet (or perhaps most Nook Tablets) had Netflix pre-installed. So then you won't get option to delete it.

Re: Netflix not working

I cannot log in through the app. When I start the app the red sceen starts briefly and thn goes black and hangs. If I press the back arrow I get a message wait or exit. I cannot delete the app because it is a tablet. Has anyone been able to fix this on a tablet?

Re: Netflix not working

Joan, what happens if you try the following:

1) Restart Nook.

Power off: Press and hold power button for 20 seconds.

Power On: Press and hold power button for 4 seconds.

2) Go to Apps Page and tap the blue 'Check for Updates' button at the top right. Wait a minute and then see in the Update Apps Available dialog that comes up - Is there Netflix?

If there is, then update Netflix.

3) Restart again.

4) Now start Netflix.

Re: Netflix not working

What's the desktop dropdown?

Do you mean on Settings Page? That doesn't work for anyone. Just ignore it.

Re: Netflix not working

OK, now I understand what you mean. Yes, that part doesn't work because there's a problem with the linking.

So linking to Netflix through Settings doesn't work. I guess that's why you can't get it in the dropdown.

Only logging in to the App works.

Re: Netflix not working

Deleting the app and reloading helped fix the access problem to Netflix. Thank you! It was an easy fix. The support staff didn't have a clue. :-)

Re: Netflix not working

I just spoke to both Netflix and to Nook Support. The story I got was that Netflix updated their firmware and the Nook was not compatible with the update. For people with Nook Color the fix is fairly easy (because Netflix was not factory-installed software). I believe the process is as follows:

Press the Netflix app until the options come up and uninstall it. You can reinstall it from your app selection, or however you installed it the first time.

For those of us with a lovely Nook tablet...we're just out of luck until Netflix and Barnes & Noble figure out a way to update the preinstalled version of Netflix. (Doesn't it seem reasonable that they would have thought about this BEFORE they sold millions of them???) The Nook Support girl (very sweet but not terribly helpful) said that they did not announce this because they don't have a time frame yet as to when the problem will be worked out (maybe never?). I am really, really not happy.

Side note: Not sure exactly what's up with B & N, but they just announced that they will be closing 20 stores a year for the next decade. They blamed it on loss of revenue due to online competition. I concede that maybe customer (no) service may have a bigger role in that than they credit.
