Shelves on Tablet vs. 1st Edition

I am trying to find out if this is possible and if so, how to accomplish it.

When I placed books onto shelves while on my 1st edition, they would be removed from the "master" library list of books and only be listed on the shelf.

This enabled me to easily see new purchases, as well as keeping the "master" list small.

When I place books on shelves on my Tablet, they still remain on the "master" library list. This list is 450 books. It is a pain to look for a book to place on a shelf, or to find a book not on a shelf.

When I contacted customer service their solution was to erase & un-register my tablet, then re-register it.

No way am I going to do that unless I know for sure it will help.

Does anyone know of a way to have the books listed only on the shelves when looking through the library on the Tablet?

Thanks!

No that will not help.  I don't think there is any way to do what you want, other than maybe sideloading all your books and maybe putting them in different folders?  Folderes=pseudo shelves kind of.

Re: Shelves on Tablet vs. 1st Edition

Thanks for the reply.

A friend told me that the color and tablet won't do this, though the earler Nook versions do.

I am hoping B&N will do an update to enable this feature.

Re: Shelves on Tablet vs. 1st Edition

I'm with you 100%. For me, the shelving system on the original nook is far superior to that of the NC & NT. I found it much easier to shelve the books and agree that once put on a shelf, I'd rather not see the book elsewhere.

When I first got my tablet, I was under the assumption that the shelves functioned like this too.  It seemed the intuitive way to use them.  Now, I don't really see the point of having shelves at all.  It would just be a lot more work trying to update them all the time and the payback is just not worth it.  I've resigned myself to going to the library page and sorting by author, but as you say, that's a real pain if you've got hundreds of books...

Re: Shelves on Tablet vs. 1st Edition

I hope B&N will "fix" the shelves, too - removing books from the unshelved list when you put them on shelves was a great feature in the 1st edition. I think whoever "removed" this feature from the Nook Tablet (and I guess the Nook Color, too) didn't understand the usefulness of what they were removing.

Re: Shelves on Tablet vs. 1st Edition

I have a 1st Edition, Color Nook, and just recently purchased a Nook Tablet.  Everyone is correct, the 1st Edition shelving procedure is far superior.  How do we find out whether or not the Nook software developers are addressing this issue?  Or is this forum just a vehicle to voice our likes and dislikes and otherwise be completely ignored by Barnes and Noble?

This is a primarily a user forum, although if you post problems Alex will sometimes try and help. If you want to send BN a suggestion, do it directly via email or snail mail. Don't expect a response to suggestions except possibly a thanks for your suggestion. While some companies address user concerns on forums, my experience has been that it's rare.

It's also unlikely the will post anything about possible future enhancements. Again most companies won't do that because then people start complaining why isn't it here you promised and you're not keeping your word. <\p>
