My puppy chewed my charger so I got a new one, now my battery only lasts for a few hours..also when its charging, as soon as i plug it in, turns off. it still charges but takes a long time to do so and lasts for a little while. i need help and answers on how to charge with the nook staying on.

Hi and welcome to the boards!
Is it possible you obtained the wrong type of charger for your tablet? The Simple Touch charger won't correctly charge the tablet as more power is needed. The tablet charger has a 'n' on the end of the micro USB which turns oranage/yellow during charging; while the ST charger does not have a light on the micro USB end of the cable. Charge the tablet with the included power adaptor in an outlit. Avoid charging with your computer. If you have the correct charger, please let us know so we can troubleshoot further.
If this started after you got a new charger, I doubt the tablet is at fault.

For the best result you need to use the Barnes & Noble Nook charger cable and the Nook wall charger. The Nook charges at 2 A (200 Ma) almost all other USB/Mini USB connected devices charge at about 1 A. To create the fast recharge time we enjoy with the Nook there are two extra "pins" in the USB connector that deliver the additional electrical current to achieve the fast charge. If your replacement cable is not a B&N Nook cable it will not deliver the results you want.
