Tracking Unshelved Books?

Hi. I recnetly upgraded from a 1st Ed to the Nook Tablet.  I am trying to reshelve my books (wish there was a way to do this once and have it carry over), burt am having a tough time keeoing track of which books I have shelved.  In the nook classic all unshelved books were listed as "unshelved" and you woyld move them to their new shelve. In the tablet I am shelving from the library and caan't see what I have already done.  Am I missing something?  Does this post even make sense? : )

Shelve you books the other way around.  Edit the shelf and add the books to it that you want in it, rather than using the library to place each book (file) into a shelf.

Re: Tracking Unshelved Books?

I find the most efficient way is to create your sheves first, then sort your books by author, then start from the top of the library list and work down. That way, it's easier to remember where you left off. I've shelved my 600 books on 2 nook 1st editions, 1 nook simple, 2 nook colors and 2 nook tablets. Can do each in 60 minutes once my shelves are named. Of course, as a back up, I always have at least one other nook device to double check my shelving on.

Re: Tracking Unshelved Books?

This is driving me absolutely nuts!  I cannot tell what is selved or what is not.  And when I download new books I then can't find them since they weren't shelved and aren't listed as unshelved.  I really need the unshelved "shelf" back.  Where do I submit this to Nook developers?

And it is not as easy to move it to a different shelf if you get it wrong as all my shelves don't show up in the list.  I ended up with one shelf created multiple times since it didn't show up.

Re: Tracking Unshelved Books?

When first downloading your entire library, follow the steps I listed in my prior post. Subsequently, when you download new books, BEFORE you open them, follow these steps:

1. Tap on library, then the books icon.

2. At the top of the page, sort by "most recent".

3. Tap and hold on each newly downloaded book to shelve. DO NOT try to do it while you are in "My Files- Shelves"; if you open a book before trying to shelve it, the book moves down lower in the list, and you will likely miss it.

Also, although it's time consuming if you have a lot of books, you can easily tell if a book has been shelved by tapping and holding on a book, click on "remove from shelf", and it will show you if the book has been shelved. USUALLY, if a shelf doesn't show up in the list when adding a book, it means the book is already on that shelf.

Once in a while, shelves won't show at all when NT working memory gets overloaded, and you'll need to completely turn off the NT and restart. This has happened to me once when I added a lot of sideloaded book to my shelves at the same time, and it's probably what happened when you had multiple shelves of the same name.

Another tip for shelving; type in a search while in "My Library" (by author or series); this will give you the count. Then after you shelve, go to the shelf and double check the count.
