What is 'Publisher Defaults" and how it works?

It seems that if I set a book's publisher defaults to 'on', then all the options under 'Text' are not functioning any more except the font size.  What is this publisher defaults and how it works?

Publisher Defaults is found in the 'text' portion of the reading tools menu, which is accessible by tapping on the center of the page.  When this feature is activated, the book displays the default formatting recommended by the publisher. As you mentioned, all other formatting options expect text size are disabled. It is a easy way to set the book back to the orginial formatting.

While reading the problem book. I tap the screen, and a menu pops up at the bottom of the screen. I have 3 choices, content, find, and brightness. 2 other options are listed, not available, they are discover, and share.

Am I looking in the correct area for publishers defaults?

You should have a Text button also that opens up size, font, line spacing and margins.  Publisher defaults is a toggle switch at the bottom of that popup.

I would assume it's safe to leave "off" for most ebooks.  Where it may matter is for specific formatting such as poetry, textbooks, etc.
