Accepted Solution

Youtube

I have been looking at youtube videos fine since I bought my Nook Tablet, until today. It just shows a black screen and no longer says loading video. I have deleted my cache and cookies, then I updated to the latest update 1.4.1. I can't seem to fix the problem. Anyone else having this issue or have a solution?

Re: Youtube

Which browser are you using? If it is the default that comes on the Nook, you could try resetting the settings to default. Are you able to see flash video on any other sites or do you get a similar black screen?

If you still get a black screen, you have me stumped. I'm not techy enough to solve that issue without being able to personally see it.

The only thing I could suggest would be to try the new Dolphin Browser (free in the app marketplace). It is an excellent browser and in my opinion better than the default.

Re: Youtube

Thanks for your help. I downloaded Dolphin and it is indeed a better web browser and youtube works perfectly on it. You have just made my Nook experience so much better. Thanks for your help.

Re: Youtube

I hadthe same problem this morning. Yesterday I watched videos on YouTube with no issues, today I got a black screen as well. I found that if I try to use the mobile version of YouTube I can no longer watch videos. If I switch to the desktop version I can. Not sure what changed in about 15 hours, but now the only way to watch videos on YouTube is by switching from the mobile to the desktop, very strange.

Re: Youtube, Dolphin Browser

Greetings !

Thanx for the info on the Dolphin Browser, but if I may pick a nit with the mods, this is a work-around, NOT a true solution. May I respectfully suggest that a few minutes be spent on determining why youtube doesn't work with the default browser ? If worked just fine on my Nook color this morning...but outside of Dolphin it does not work in the Tablet's default browser. As I just bought my shiny new tablet-toy yesterday, this is not filling me with confidence. :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Youtube, Dolphin Browser

I am by no means a mod or do I have the power to know why the orignal poster's browser won't display youtube videos. I just thought I would help in any way that I could, by suggesting another browser.

You could personally message an on-duty moderator or talk to someone at your local B&N if you would like to receive more information on the problem with the default browser.

Re: Youtube

I had the same problem yesterday. I know that Youtube sometimes changes the way they present videos (the API) to devices. Whatever it was, it's gone today.

However, now I'm getting frequent pauses. I'm going to open another thread specifically to address the pauses.

Re: Youtube, Dolphin Browser

I just spent close to an hour at a Barnes & Noble store (& on the phone with support) trying to figure out why Youtube does not show.  No Results, (Re-registered two times) I will check out that Dolphin Browser.  They even gave me a brand new Nook Tablet, still getting the same results.

Re: Youtube, Dolphin Browser

When the video first shows up on youtube with the large triangular play symbol in the center, I tap it once which leads to a black screen showing up. Nothing happens after this. I'm assuming this is the problem everyone is having with their browsers/Youtube. All you have to do to make the video play from that point is tap the small play symbol in the lower left hand corner of the player.
