DVD-Blu ray-Digital-Ebook?

Why not include an ebook with a paper book?  Like a lot of dvd-blu ray-digital movies sold?  Someone is probably already doing this.

Go ahead and raise the price somewhat (NOT agency).

The book publishing industry will change.  See music and movies.

Freedom is not free.

Re: DVD-Blu ray-Digital-Ebook?

Or, how about including more than one ebook on a cd, seeing space wouldn't be a problem... *cough* Baen *cough* (index of cds is available elsewhere on the net).

Buying one of those books in hard cover (I think this is a requirement) should include a cd with several other ebooks by the same author and sometimes a mix of other authors as well.

As a side-note, Baen is my first stop when I need to fill up on Sci/Fi with their reasonable prices and lack of DRM. Sorry B&N, but if Baen has what I want, I'll buy it there, without hesitation.

Re: DVD-Blu ray-Digital-Ebook?

Yep, I purely love Baen! Much of the content on my NC is from them. A typical Baen hardback comes with previous books by its author, and assorted background material, on a CD bound inside the back cover. I am looking at one of those CDs right now: it says "NOTICE: This disk and its contents may be copied and shared, but NOT sold. All commercial rights reserved. Copyright 2010 Baen Publishing Enterprises."

Baen makes much their back catalog available for free downloading on their website. And ebooks of current stuff on their website are available for purchase in a variety of formats -- without DRM. Some of my Baen CDs predate the epub file format; for those I converted the rtf version to PDF and sideloaded the PDFs to my NC where I read them using the EzPdfReader app.

Remember: the big print giveth, the small print taketh away.
