Anyone having an issue syncing a NC to DejaOffice via the CompanionLink utility? Just checking to ensure my problem is particular and not a general issue with all NCs. My NC connects with the computer but then causes an error message about being unable to connect. DejaOffice works without a problem on my Nook Tablet and Nexus S phone.

I just saw this and didn't know until now that DejaOffice was finally available for the Nook Color; the irony of this is that I just ordered a n2a card (should arrive tomorrow) so I could use DejaOffice on the Nook. Granted I will be able to use some other Android apps now but the lack of DejaOffice was the main reason for ordering the card.
I just installed DejaOffice to my Nook Color and the sync went well, AFTER I broke down and read the instructions (hehe), which are here http://www.companionlink.com/support/kb/Manual_Syn
In DejaOffice in "settings" the "syc settings" the sync method must be set to "USB Sync' and the "Manual Sync Mode" MUST BE CHECKED. These were both properly pre set when I checked them.
Do not have the Nook connected to the computer.
Tap the "sync" tab in DejaOffice and you will be instructed to close DejaOffice and connect the USB cable.
The sync process automatically started on the PC side. I did alread have the Companion Link Setup window open (don't know if this is necessary ~ I was doing a "desktop to Android" setting as this was the first sync. There is a button to initiate the sync process if it doesn't start on it's own.
When the sync finished I ejected the Nook from the PC.
I reoened DejaOffice and it was compleating the sync.
Hope this helped!

Thanks for the information. I was interested in the Wi-Fi sync. Anyway, we are using the DejaOffice suite on two Nook Tablets and one Nexus S phone. It is excellent to have a real contact manager that syncs with our MS Outlook calendar and contacts. We are even using the "memos" to share notes and reminders. As far as I know, DejaOffice is the only contact manager that will sync with MS Outlook. We are using the CompanionLink Professional version on the desktop so anyone can press the sync button on their device and perform the sync with no need to open the desktop. Very useful and well developed set of Apps and desktop program.
Have you tried to sync via Wi-Fi? Please let me know as I still have a trouble ticket open with CompanionLink about our Nook Tablet that has not been able to perform a Wi-Fi sync.

I use USB cable sync exclusively; that is one of the features I really liked about CompanionLink, that they offer this option (I work in agriculture in a rural environment and don't always have wi-fi connectivity, or even a decent data signal on the phone). So, I can't comment on how the wi-fi option works. My USB connection and sync work really well for me. I am syncing a phone and now the Nook with the Time & Chaos program.
My experience with CompanonLink in the past has been that they are very quick to respond to trouble shooting requests, and very helpful. I hope you get this resoled soon!

DejaOffice is rather useless for me. It doesn't sync to Google calendar without a $125 desktop application. How hard is it to implement a CalDAV interface, to grab calendars from Apple, Google, Yahoo, or anywhere else? .
Charles.

As a point of information for people, this isn’t quite accurate.
The desktop companion application to DejaOffice, Companionlink, is only required if you want to sync a desktop PIM program (Palm, ACT, Outlook, etc.) directly to a mobile Android device (phone, tablet, Nook), either via usb or wi-fi, OR if you want to sync popular desktop PIM’s directly to the Google cloud and don’t want to / don’t have the skills to / don’t have the time or patience to set up messy interfaces. Also, unless one wants or needs (most won’t need) the professional version for Companionlink with its advanced features, the cost for most interfaces is $49.95, not $125. With Companionlink you can sync DejaOffice, the desktop, and Google, all with the same application.
However, if you want to use DejaOffice (which is a FREE application) and sync it with Google, that feature is already built in! DejaOffice can be set to sync with either or both the phone’s or tablet’s native Android contacts and calendars. Those native applications can then directly sync with the Google cloud. So, DejaOffice can be very useful to someone without purchasing any desktop applications.
While DejaOffice isn’t as “developed” as Iambic’s Agendus application I used for years on the desktop and my PalmOS devices, it is pretty good: One can link tasks or appointments to contacts, can categorize items (Google’s system of setting up separate calendars is rather cumbersome), and it has ALL FOUR functions of a traditional PIM: contacts, appointments, tasks, and memos, integrated into a single system, as well as an expense module (VERY convenient for anyone who has to turn in expense reports, or itemizes business travel expenses. This is where Google calendar sucks in my opinion.
To learn more about just the features of the DejaOffice application (independent of a desktop program) one can do that at http://www.dejaoffice.com
But, to each their own ….

Now you're the inaccurate one. The Nook Color and Tablet do not have google contacts. There is nothing to sync to. Your own support told me I must purchase Companionlink Pro. Here is the email verbatim:
Charles -
We can't add the built in Google sync to the device - that's a choice Barnes & Nobel made. There simply aren't any applications for DejaOffice to synchronize to - which is different than most Android devices.
You can still sync with Google: to do so, configure CompanionLink on the PC to synchronize the Google account information to DejaOffice. Not all versions of CompanionLink do this, though - you'll need CompanionLink Pro:

My apologizes and you are correct in this regard …
I didn’t think about the fact that the native Android PIM apps aren’t on the Nook. I use the native Nook for reading but switch to the “Android tablet” side via a n2a card for almost all other functions. When I first started using DejaOffice on an Android phone I’ve used Companionlink from day one as what is important to me is to be able to usb sync the mobile devices directly with my laptop. I live and work in rural environs and don’t have 24/7 wi-fi access, or often even a decent data signal on the phone when in the field, and I avoid “the cloud” (except for e-mail) for this and some other reasons.
I’ve just upgraded to CompanionLink Professional for the additional features, especially being able to sync multiple platforms … I may even “dust off” my Palm TX device for some specific purposes; with CL Pro one can filter which info goes to each device. Though I never used the feature when I had the “single device sync” version of CL (I originally had CL for Palm Desktop / Pimlical, they gave my a free cross grade to CL for Time & Chaos which I’m now using on the laptop) the CL website indicates that each “single platform” version of CL (most are $49.95) will ALSO sync with Google from the desktop.
I’m not disputing that DejaOffice may not meet the requirements of the quoted poster, but it is an (free) excellent product in my opinion if one wants / needs integrated contact/appointment/task/memo (and expense) management in one convenient package … that’s its big advantage to me over some other apps, everything is pulled together into one integrated unit. This “attitude” of mine does betray my old “Palm Pilot” and field sales management habits when such integration was considered the intuitive way to manage business and life. And, if one is on the “Android side of things” (phone, tablet, “rooted” Nook) DejaOffice (contacts and calendar) will sync with Google (through the native Android contacts and calendar) without purchasing any additional software. There is no “task” sync (one of the many disadvantages of using the “cloud”) but some I know get around this by setting up a specific Google calendar for tasks, and creating a calendar “category” for tasks in DejaOffice.
