Mine is a Pop3 and on my LG Expo Smartphone, I was never able to set up my "main" email account. I entered all the info and spent days trying to get it to work before just giving up.
I'm wondering if I will have the same problem setting up my "main" email on the NC. I'm not ready to try yet (time constraints) but will post an update if I'm successful.

That fixed mine. Outgoing server should have smtp in front of it.
Ex. comcast.net would be mail.comcast.net (for incoming server) and the outgoing (sending server) smtp.comcast.net

I was able to get a Gmail account set-up pretty quickly. The one thing though is that it does not auto update. I sent a test e-mail to my Gmail account and my phone buzzed instantly but I had to manually refresh my Nook to see the e-mail.

Checked mine after reading your post.
Sent test email. Smartphone came up right away.
Waited a few minutes for NC email to kick in.
Didn't.
Clicked synch botton at bottom left. Arrows spun around.
Only after I did this did the email notification appear in the status bar.
A little late.....
An obvious glitch.....

I had the same problem.
Turns out I left out a letter when I entered my email address.
Recheck how you entered your email and password.
Sure would like to know I wasn't the only one who had a duh moment LOL.

I also had trouble with my att email. It wouldn't let me use POP, so I used IMAP.
Found this from Yahoo! Mobile Help:
Worked for me. Good luck!

No problems here either...just glad to have the email app. Don't think there is a way to do a mass delete from trash...
