Handing Down N1E To My Daughter

Hi all,

Recently got a Simple Touch.  I have transferred all of my books from the N1E to the Simple Touch.  I want to give the N1E to my 9 year old daughter.  I have books currently on the N1E that are not suitable for her age.  I am looking for suggestions on how to go about removing what she doesn't need or want.

Should I register it in her name and email address and side load all books from my account that are suitable for her?

Should I de-register, then register in my name, not synch anything and side load books for her?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you!

Dave

Re: Handing Down N1E To My Daughter

I gave my N1E to my 10 year old last summer when I bought the N2E. I deregistered it from my account and deleted everything. Then I sideloaded all the books I wanted him to have. I have been collecting kids books and I had a whole bunch of classics I thought he might like to read. I also recently bought all the Harry Potter books and sideloaded them, too. The first time you open a book sideloaded from your account you have to input your name and credit card number, but then it opens all the books downloaded using that credit card and you don't have to do it again. The plan was to register it to his own account (password protected so he had to ask me if he wanted to buy a book, of course), but so far I haven't bothered. If there's a book he wants, I've been buying it on my account and sideloading it to his nook.

He loves it. He's been reading way more since he's had it. Previously the only thing I could get him to read were technical manuals. Actually all 3 kids use it, even the 4 year old.

Thank you for the reply.

After you de-registered, did you have to register?

You have a different child !.. What sort of technical manuals are 10 year olds into these days??.. WOW.. I thought mine was weird soaking up all the Greek Mythology that he would converse with high school & college teachers about what he was reading around that age.

I'd go with this. It's basically what I did for my daughter. Given the age, I'd place a purchase password on there so she can't buy anything without parental approval.

The N1E doesn't have to be registered. I think all the other nook models do, though. I kind of like it this way since then all the books are on my account in one place on the website. I only have one account to worry about syncing on mook for pc to make my back-ups, too. I will probably eventually register it to his own account, but this has been working for now.

Um ,yeah, different is a good way to describe him. He learned to read before he turned 2, but didn't talk in full sentences till age 5 (didn't talk at all until he was almost 4). He likes to read computer mauals mostly. He could probably tell you everything you ever wanted to know about any computer maufactured in the last 30 years. I'm a little afraid to contemplate what he probably knows how to do. He has aspberger's and is an interesting child to raise.

Re: Handing Down N1E To My Daughter

I actually share my account with my mom and she isn't very tech savySo I created shelves for her with the books she should would like.  She doesn't see any of the other books that I buy if they are not on the shelves
