How to connect your nook tablet to a projector? (theoretically)

With the iPad, by using the specual camera kit, you are able to connect the tablet to a projector or large screen monitor in a conference room for example to do a presentation... I realize this is probably taking the nook tablet out of its league in terms of functipnal purpose, as a piece of hardware... But how cool would it be if you could use the nook tablet as a presentation device to show slideshow presentations or even demonstrate something on screen? Theoretically, is this even possible? What would it take to make this happen? Would it be possible to somehow use the Bluetooth or the microUSB port, with a special adapter to hook the nook tablet up to a projector screen?

I did see an iPad app that is able to control a PC.  So you hook the PC to the projector and control the presentation using the iPad (uses wifi).  I think the same thing is possible with the NT.  This way you can control any app.  In the example I saw the iPad app was especially designed to control specific programs so specific touch gestures caused certain things to happen.  If you want to display an app running on the tablet you could get a Vizio tablet ($199).  It has an HDMI port that can connect to a TV/projector.

Actually there is an hdmi cable for the iPad that plugs into the porer data pet on the iPad: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC953ZM/A. They use this in my office on projectors all the time, I didnt really take a close look before... It comes with the camera kit, but i didn't realize you could just buy it... I wonder: can they come out with an hdmi cable like this one? That plugs into the nook's micro USB?

I think they'd have to change the way the usb works.  If bluetooth were enabled it might be possible or using a remote desktop app.  I believe there is at least one remote desktop app that would allow you to run a PC controlled presentation, but know what you are suggesting is using the NT directly.  In theory a great many things ought to work if the software was there.  Printing to wifi enabled printers, even sending "streaming" video to wifi enabled tvs or other devices.

using the NT to control a PC to do a presentation seems a little silly.  the presentation would have to be on the PC so then why not just use the PC alone?  the NT would only be a remote control device anyway so you would have to take a pc and the NT to the presentation.  just because some things are possible doesn't mean they are advisable.

Well, yes it may seem silly of course. :smileyvery-happy: I do know that my cousin gives a lot of powerpoint presentations and has a remote just for the purpose.  It means that she can be standing and giving the presentation and not sitting behind the pc or have someone that does the slide advances that she must drag with her and rehearse with to get the timing down correctly.

And whether or not some things are advisable is based upon the user and how feasible something is.  It is quite possible with some remote desktop programs to actually view things at the same time you are doing them.  I can envision having access to the Powerpoint notes on the NT while facing an audience and not having to look at the pc or the screen to discuss things.

I often use the NT to face my class while teaching and a wireless mouse to advance the Power Point so I do not ned to look at the slides over my shoulder. Very effective as long as I remember to advance both items at the same time.
