I just read that the Kobo Vox ereader tablet will get Google Play with a coming update.

As the Vox has no camera and no GPS it looks like Google has changed its license requirements.
That would mean that an official Google Play license would be possible now for Kinde Fire and Nook NC/NT.
I wonder if there is enough pressure from Kindle Fire for B&N to consider getting an Google Play license if Google will indeed allow that now for tablets with ereader specs. Would be a good way to make the NC and NT more popular.

There are so many Apps that I would like to load on my Nook Color that aren't available through the Nook Store. I would heartily welcome Google Play access to gain access to major Apps such as Gmail, Firefox, LinkedIn, Google Maps, Facebook, business-specific Apps like Good for Enterprise as well as my employer's Apps.
I know that the competitiors' e-reader Apps are a threat to B&N's business, and I really wouldn't care if these were "banned" from the device. Gaining access to the Market... er... Play... would be worth the "sacrifice."
