Another sale here, for educators, 20% off educator discount week on Nooks: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/barnes-noble-celebrates-educator-appreciation-week-april-14-april-2... These discounts have me wondering... Is Barnes and Noble prepping for a product launch in the next month or so?

You think?

Samsung Garnet Red Galaxy Tab2 (7.0"): Android 4.1.1 rooted
Acer Iconia A500: Android 4.0.3 rooted;; Nook Color: B&N 1.4.3 rooted
Nook Touch (two): B&N 1.2.1 rooted; Nook 1stEd/3G (two): B&N 1.7.0 rooted.
Customer loyalty is earned, not commanded or deserved, and easily lost.
Nothing is foolproof, because fools are so ingenious. Same for rooters.

I understand unloading the old NC inventory, since the NT8G is clearly designed to fill that market niche.  If they're unloading NSTs as well, that would seem to imply the new coming product is an e-ink.

Re: Nook Color and Nook Simple Touch bundled for $149

That seems likely, although it is possible that they are reducing inventory simply to control quantities that were over produced during the Christmas season. The holiday season reports were that BN had overproduced the NST based on expected demand from the last year... (the previous season, they had underestimated demand so compensated for that this year)... Another possibility is that they could be launching a mirasol reader at the same size as the NST and are expecting that to eat into the NST demand? (they could just reduce the price on the NST coming up as well)

Another possibility is that they are prepping for a product that targets the education market specifically, that will be able to read the NC and NST content as well, and the "Educator Appreciation Week" is an initiative to build user base for the ecosystem in advance of that launch?

Any possibility that this could be something as simple as reducing inventory prior to the end of the fiscal year?  That's coming up in about a month, isn't it?  :smileyindifferent:

Re: Nook Color and Nook Simple Touch bundled for $149

I was tempted to pick one up, but I've waited this long for a tablet, I can wait to see what Google is cooking up.  I want to buy my books from B&N, my music from Amazon, and my apps from Google.
