Nook Glow Light: Using a stylus may damage factory installed screen protector

Word is out that using a stylus may damage the factory installed screen protector on the Simple Touch Glow Light Nook. Employees were told to inform customers not to use a stylus on this device as damage has been reported. Has anyone who has returned their NSTGL due to a bright spot on the screen used a stylus?

Alex: Any additional comments?

I use a stylus about half the time on my GlowNook and have not noticed any problems. Do you have a source for this info?

I returned my Glowlight because of a bright light spot on the screen and I never used a stylus, and I was crazy about protecting the screen too, always covered when not in use.

I can understand this warning.  Most people get hard styluses and press pretty hard because they think it's a touch-screen and you have to actually PUSH on it.

It sounds like any damage to the protector is very noticeable.

I had a few little bright spots on My NSTG so I exchanged it. The new unit had the same issue but on different spots on the screen. Finally the third unit had no spots on the screen at all. You might want to try getting another Glowlight unit, its likely that it was just a defective unit.

I had a NST glowlight that arrived without any spots. Three days later two spots appeared. I never used a stylus and the spots were located in areas of the screen where I was not swiping.

I have not used a stylus on mine and after a month a bright spot has appeared.  I keep it in a case at all times and am very careful with it.  I'm calling today to see if I can get a replacement, but I'm worried this will be an issue over time with all the nook glows.

I´m worried about fingernails... Mine aren´t too long, I try tapping on screen with the edge of the finger or using the hard buttons...
