You used to be able to access it by going to the search and then typing in a www."internet site".com address and it would take you there. Gone. Not a big deal, since it was non-functional anyway.
Frankly, I'm glad. Now maybe people will stop whining about it "not working right" when it wasn't meant to have a functioning browser in the first place! lol.

I don't have any nookbooks on my N2E right now and all have covers. Sideloaded books have to go into My Files\Books for the covers to display.
The only change I have noticed is that the Reading Now on the Home Screen doesn't update or shows page 1 of 1. If I tap on the image it takes me to the right page though.

Anyone else, sideload the nookcolor/v1.01 file before you noticed that you shouldn't have? Because going online to my Shop is completely different and I don't think it is suppossed to be that way if I had only sideloaded the correct file. I now can suppossedly buy apps? Actually, I tried to look at a specific app, and it said that my nook doesn't support the apps. So why am I able to browse apps to begin with. Also, the shop is not in the correct size. I can't view it all.

Faster page turns, check.
Crisper fonts, check.
Wiped out my pain-in-the-tush-to-organize bookshelves, check.
Bookshelves still a pain-in-the-tush-to-organize, check.
..."Weirder" and seemingly slower transitions when moving between functions.
...Lost some (but not all) of my bookmarks
...Kept the highlights on a book I would have been upset to lose my notes on.

I mean in the shelf views. All my covers show up in the general files/books, but there's an option to see covers in shelf view now, and it appears to only work on nookbooks. I'll poke with it some more later.
EDIT: Oh, wait, nevermind. It appears that my shelves have been wiped of all my sideloaded content. I'll see what happens when I reload them, I guess. *eyeroll* *glares at BN for the fiftieth time*

I was always able to see covers on my shelves (at least I think I was) and it works for me with sideloaded books as well as nookbooks.

Admitedly I don't buy books from my nook but I dont see anything obvious that is different.
Regarding apps I noticed they started showing up in nookbook searches on this site a while back.
If you sideloaded the file from the original link the only thing that should have happened is that the nook ate (deleted) the file.

Sure...
When you go from selection to selection... let's say, for example... Hit the button, then select, Library/All...
The jumble of what is on the "Library" page as it transitions into what is on the "All" page involves a bunch of flashing text and graphics before it settles into the "All" page. The older software used to do so before, but this was a bit more striking.
At first, I thought, "Uh oh, is this thing going to crash now?" It will probably turn out to be no big deal, but it's something I noticed right away.

Is anyone else's Shop a little off? Before the update, there would be three maybe windows that scrolled, like recommendations ect. However, now I have 8 windows that scroll and three of them are apps, kids books and nook blog. All three do not work on the ST. I tried just to see. Anyone else check their shop?

It appears I don't have enough available memory on mine to copy over the update. I don't even have that many books on mine. I took off all my sideloaded content and all my screensavers. The amount of available memory has not changed. I called tech support and he told me to call back tomorrow because this is a known issue, and they should have a solution tomorrow.... I'm a tad frustrated.
Anyone heard of this or have any suggestions?
Thanx

Another observation:
The fonts don't degrade the way they used to as they progress from the major screen refresh (on every sixth page turn). There is some degredation which maxes out on the fifth turn, but not as much as there used to be.

Maybe try archiving a bunch of books and then see if that frees up some space?

Definitely worth putting ALL side loaded books on a separate SD card.
I suspect the "solution" they are working on is for the file to use the 1.5 gb that is reserved for the system.
Patience! It is the first day of release, there are always a few hiccups on a first day. I have been releasing software for 20 years and it is rare that there isn't some sort of issue in the real world versus testing.
(Not that I don't get frustrated too! So, I try to practice what I preach and often fail.)

But... the update has been available for almost an ENTIRE HOUR!!! Why don't they announce version 1.2 yet? What is going to be in THAT?
(major sarcasm, please don't anybody start a "Version 1.2 wishlist" thread).

I'm sure there will be one as soon as people start discovering that B&N didn't fix/change/add feature x. I'm speculating it will begin with a request to add back the broken browser. ![]()

No need to start a new wishlist for 1.2. Just ask the moderators to change
the 1.1 to 1.2 in the heading for the 1.1 wishlist thread and we'll be back on track.![]()

I copied a bunch of my books from the Nook to a backup folder on my Mac and then deleted them on the Nook to free up the space. The only catch is that you have to empty the trash on a Mac before those files are actually moved off of the Nook.
I copied the update onto the device, let it install, and then copied my books back onto the device as well. It loses the order of your most recents but it's the only way I could clear enough space for the update.

I just installed the new firmware with the help of the tech support folks from B&N (in Costa Rica). The eInk does appear to look crisper and page turns appear to be a little faster. I am still very disappointed that the developers at B&N did not include an upgrade to view books and pdf's in landscape mode like the new Kindle can. I may have to root the directory and install a landscape app to get this option I guess. For $ 70+ dollars my next eBook readers for my (2) kids may probably be a Kindle though.
