Nook Usage Survey for B&N

[ Edited ]

I just received an email from B&N requesting completion of a survey as follows:

"In a continuing effort to improve our services, we are contacting select
customers to participate in an online survey. By spending 10 or so minutes to
tell us about yourself and how you use your NOOK, you will provide us with
valuable information that will help us better serve you, as well as shape the
future of NOOK."

Anyone else get it? The  survey covered ease of browsing app, book, magazine, newspaper and movie content, as well assearching for content and purchasing via the website or on nook devices.

I addressed shelving and search inconsistencies across devices.

No survey here.  But I have ways of giving feedback the general population doesn't.

Didn't get the survey, but I suspect B&N has already been told what I think. ;-)

Re: Nook Usage Survey for B&N

Perhaps the survey is limited to members? If so, they're missing out on all the potential customers who aren't members.

One of the questions asks if you are a member.

Check with Laurieb52 to see if you're considered a targeted customer by B&N. I was surprised that I wasn't. Perhaps your profile isn't up to snuff?

Re: Nook Usage Survey for B&N

It's probably a"total dollars spent" threshold of purchases via either the B&N website or via the nook family. The survey focused mostly on purchasing experiences. Multiply Keri's spending patterns x 4.

.... Or, it could be totally random, except I was also one of those who received the" select members only" sale coupons for the HD's early last summer.

Maybe location of spending is a factor.  For instance, I almost never shop on my nook.  I buy on the website or via the Android nook app, even if my nook is sitting in front of me, because the store on the NST is slow and weird.  If it's a nook usage survey and most of the questions are about purchasing experiences, then maybe it's geared toward people who buy on the nook.

I have a hard time imagining they have a lot of folks who buy 500+ books a year, so I can't imagine me times four is the criteria, but hey, you never know.

Re: Nook Usage Survey for B&N

My money is on random.  Because rather than casting a wide net and getting more results it seems they want to cast a small net and limit their results.

I'm not an expert in these survey type things, but generally speaking the more data the better the result has been something I always felt was correct.  At least when you control the type of data.

A random sample would minimize "skewing" the data.

I'm a member, buy all my books on the Nook; own several Nooks...but no survey.

Random.  Random selection.  Otherwise, it would have little value as a survey.

Re: Nook Usage Survey for B&N

Actually random surveys are very rare.  Unless a representative sample is carefully targeted the number of people surveyed must be much larger.  This is how Gallup made their reputation. Either a carefully selected sample or everyone is best.

Re: Nook Usage Survey for B&N

I just got my survey email. I am not a B&N member, I spend very little on books, and when I do shop it is usually from my iPad. So my guess too is that it must be a random survey.
