Simple Touch Glowlight for a Tablet Owner

[ Edited ]

My Story -- Not a big deal... but it might help someone that is in the same situation that I was before.

I had the original nook. Loved it. Had a cracked screen problem that was covered by the extended warranty. Later I bought a Nook Tablet and gave my original Nook to my mom. I figured I wouldn't need it anymore.  I WAS WRONG.

I missed the really long battery life.

In addition the Tablet is heavier. Not too heavy to become unusable... but enough that I finally decided to buy a new Nook Simple Touch for when I was doing the bulk of my reading. I had thought about getting a Simple Touch without the Glowlight... but decided to go ahead and splurge. And I am really glad I did. I didn't realize how often I'll flip the Glowlight on; often in light conditions where I might have not bothered.

Weird Side Effect: I had been worried that I might stop using my Nook Tablet... but that has turned out to NOT be the case. In truth I am now using the Tablet MORE. This is hard to explain but I'll try: since I am no longer worried about running the battery down doing things other than reading I am now more willing to do more non-reading activity. In other words I was being "too" cautious because I didn't want to be out of battery when I did want to read. Now I feel "free" enough to use it for things such as watching videos and such.

SUMMATION: The Glowlight actually turned out to be great to own IN ADDITION to having a Tablet. I still read on the Tablet... but mostly just color books, magazines, etc. For normal novels I use the Glowlight and am happy. And yes I splurged and got the extended warranty for it too. I figure the Glowlight will be my "go to" for book reading and will probably get knocked around a lot.

I also have both the NT and the GlowNook and find it a very handy combination. The light weight of the Glow model is easier to handle as I read while exercising. If one of my units is in the charger I can simply pick up where I left off using the other reader. I wish the NT had the xtended battery life as well. But I am a reader only. Should I want to become more adventuresome with games, movies, etc. I would simply buy an honest-to-goodness Android tablet.

Re: Simple Touch Glowlight for a Tablet Owner

That´s why I dream of a color ebook... I read lots of magazines but most of my reading are books. The glowlight is a godsend but controls (such as wiki or google search) I miss a lot. But readers evolve and someday I´ll have what I need...
