BN is closed to the visually impaired?

B&N doesn't seem overly concerned about accessibility issues in general. I looked for options to make interface elements larger and easier to read, but didn't find any.

The NOOK for iOS application just added support for the visually impaired in the latest release:

The NOOK HD/HD+ also has a beta version of Accessibility support that you can try out by going to All Settings -> Applications -> Reader -> Enable accessibility.

It should be noted that while these features are designed and intended for the use of the visually impaired, there is nothing stopping a sighted user from trying them out.

Notice how the two pieces of news here are not actually Nook Color news? That is, the answer to the topic was "No", and the answer to the topic remains "No" ~ text to speech was not part of the 1.4.3 NC update, which contained: Zoom view in comics and graphic novels; 2-Page mode in landscape for viewing PagePerfect™ and PDF documents; Other minor system enhancements.

The last previous post on this thread was before B&N announced that the NC was going out of production. Any improvements on this front are unlikely to occur on the NC, making this more a Nook Talk topic at this point than a Nook Color topic.
