Unable to unlock ebook?

I recently purchased my nook color and have thus far enjoyed the experience, until I attempted to purchase my first book. Whenever I try to open it, it prompts me to 'unlock my ebook' by entering my credit card information. Personally, I think this is unnecessary, since I had already submitted my card information when I made an account and registered my nook, but I wanted to read the book, so I reentered it. However, after disappearing for a few moments, the same message popped up again, requesting the same information I had just put in.

After several more attempts, I have had the same results. I know I purchased the book, since I received the confirmation email and everything, but I am unable to unlock it. Any suggestions?

Also, are there free books that automatically download? There are a couple that randomly appeared on my screen (aside from the two that came on the nook) that I didn't purchase. At least, not knowingly.

Re: Unable to unlock ebook?

The password settings are something you set up. To change it go to settings then security. That's where the unlock passcode is set.

The books that come with the nook are a couple of childrens books and several classics like Little Women and Dracula.

You can see what came with your Nook by going to B&N and looking at your Nook Library.

Re: Unable to unlock ebook?

Its not the nook itself that I'm having issues unlocking, its one of the books I purchased on it.

Try the credit card # without spaces and if it asks for your name also, make sure it's exactly the same as what's on your B&N account (if that's not the same as the credit card).

Did you purchase the ebook using the shop function on the NC or by going online to the BN site?

If you did so from the website, you may want to go back into your BN account online and check the cc you used to buy the ebook.  Make sure the information is all correct.  You may have to delete the card and re-enter the info there.  Also, did you set up your NC with your email address and password and register it?  It should not be asking for your cc information if it's registered.

Duh, BN...What's the answer?? I have the same issue. This is why Amazon will always be #1 because of stupid issues like these.
