I'm getting a paddleboard and am thinking I might want to bring my N2E along sometimes (depending on where we're going). Does anyone have any recommendations on waterproof cases? I'd need something that could be attached to a floatation device (since I'm not talking about the pool or the bathtub - Puget Sound is deep, LOL).
I'm considering this one http://www.swimoutlet.com/ProductDetails.asp?Produ
Thanks in advance. ![]()

Are you putting it in to store it or to use it? I don't think the NST likes operating while in a bag.
Try putting it in a zip-lock bag just to test. I think you'll find that it freaks out because it thinks the bag is lots of little fingers trying to touch the screen at once.

LOL at the mental image of this!
I will give that a try. I *think* the bag I found above gets around this issue somehow, possibly with suction to the screen? I dunno. It claims to allow fully funtional use of the touchscreen, and mentions kindle, but they could mean that you can use capacative touch screens and non-touch kindles.
Maybe I'll need to take the N1E with me on the board. I was hoping to be able to use it in the bag if I wanted to.

There are certainly cheaper options! I wouldn't conisider any of these "water proof" so much as "water resistant".

I don't know what you are planning on doing to your poor Nook, but I hope it won't be as drastic as what this guy did to his iPad!![]()
BTW -- A comprehension of the German language is not necessary.

Yeah, the one you linked to has some mixed reviews with people who actually got the bag wet and the nook didn't survive. It makes me nervous, to say the least. Maybe I'll get a cheap refurb in addition to getting a waterproof bag so my primary nook doesn't have to go anywhere near the water.

I've seen reviews for the NC version alluding to tears in the corners, which might be attributed to the larger size device. I didn't see the same comments for the N2E version.
The bigger problem seems to be touchscreen use, which one reader seems to have resolved by adding air to keep the plastic above the touchscreen. Even without those reviews, I wouldn't consider any of these for intentional or repeated dunking! For beach use, I'd use this sort of case to keep sand out as much as moisture. There's a video on YouTube showing the bag in use that gives a sense of how it affects usage of the device.
Rereading your original post, I'm not sure whether you want to waterproof it for transportation, or actually plan to read on the paddleboard. If you just want to waterproof it for transport, a gasket-sealed latching box might be your best bet.
It makes me nervous, to say the least. Maybe I'll get a cheap refurb in addition to getting a waterproof bag so my primary nook doesn't have to go anywhere near the water.
If you buy a 2nd refurb'ed sacrificial unit, that guarantees a random drop of condensation will fall out of the sky will kill your primary. Bad magic! ![]()
I don't think you'll be able to eliminate risk, just get it down to, hopefully, an acceptable level. The NST is cheap enough these days that loss wouldn't be catastrophic.

Thanks for these. They didn't come up in my google search and they're definitely worth a try. And they're from REI (I love REI). ![]()

I agree about the Seattle Sports cases! I have had one for almost a year now, I think, and love it.It is used almost daily in a hot bathtub, it's been used in a pool and splashed, dropped in the pool, etc. with no problems. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a wet case. I don't use the extra zip seal that slides on, but if I were in a moving paddle board situation, I might! The touchscreen isn't very responsive, but that's why Nook god gave us the buttons. It's the main reason I went for Nook over Kindle..that and ePub flexibility. I couldn't use a Kindle in a water resistant case. Also, the case is padded, so it cushions the back if dropped, and it floats if dropped in water.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Try WWW.TRENDYDIGITAL.COM. I have purchased watertight covers from them for both of our Simple Touches. We;ve taken them to the beachs on Isla Mujeres, Mexico, several times and they work just great. They seal up tightly and keep out all the dust, sand and water.
