ereader.com books to Nook Tablet

Now that B&N owns ereader.com, shouldn't there be a way to transition any ereader.com purchases to your Nook Tablet?

The ereader.com books are pdb format.  Nook books are epub.  It should be a very simple process of converting the files from one format to another and then syncing with your Nook.

The problem is that most of the purchases from ereader.com are encrypted with DRM.   There are programs that strip it out, but I don't feel comfortable doing that.

I wouldn't be questioning the issue if B&N didn't own ereader.com.   Someone just needs to take the time to come up with a workable solution so that customers can enjoy all their B&N purchases, which includes ereader.com.

I'd tell you to visit the ideas forum and laurel the longstandined suggestion on the topic, but apparently they nixed that entire forum.  Good thing too, because B&N's problem has always been its attentiveness to customer feedback.

Personally I'd be okay with them merging my ereader.com account into a B&N account.  No need to convert anything, they'd just recognize your purchase and give you the download link to the B&N epub version.  But I wouldn't hold my breath for them to do anything.  B&N seems to have bought ereader/fictionwise for parts and doesn't seem too interested in converting the customers.

Laurel the external keyboard suggestion.

I guess I was venting more than anything else.  I, too, do not have high hopes of a acceptable resolution.  But your idea of merging the two accounts seems the most reasonable.  Maybe they will surprise us and come up with something soon.

B&N acquired ereader.com and Fictionwise over 3 years ago (March 2009) so the answer is a resounding "not anytime soon."   :smileysad:
