Since the OP mentions booting Froyo 2.2, this may be particularly relevant. I've noticed that I can use some uSD cards with higher ratings for storage, but the same car fails miserably as a boot device. Sandisk Class 4 are the gold standard if you intend to boot from the thing.

I recently ordered a 32 gb San Disk class 4 from Amazon and no matter what we did - the disk refused to be formatted. We finally sent it back. I then went to Barnes and Noble and purchased a 16 gb San Disk from them (more expensive than the 32 gb) but they installed it for me - and the disk required NO formatting and works like a charm. The disk I ordered from Amazon actually was supplied from Amazon - but who knows where they purchase their product from and why it would not format - is anyone's gues.
