I want to tell u can't put TV shows and movies on Nook Color like iTouch.
However, u can downloader video from YouTube, Yahoo, Facebook, Vimeo, Fox and other video-sharing sites, then convert them to Nook Color, u will get the same effect.

This is spam. He's digging up old threads and promoting his product, and not being up front about it. He's done this with about a half dozen threads this evening.

Which program did you try? there are a couple of solutions mentioned in this thread.
In general, try playing the file on your computer first (quicktime as well as vlc should be able to play it). If it doesn't play on your computer, it will likely also not play on your NOOKcolor.
If your computer does play the file, go into your Library on the NOOK, and use the "My Files" area to find and select your movie. While the Gallery app on the NOOK plays video files, it is very specific about where the files are located. If you use "My Files" to play the file, it doesn't matter where the file is stored on your NOOK.
If that still doesn't help, and you used DVD Catalyst to create your videos, please follow the steps here:

That would make it great for entertaining the kids on car rides, etc. We expected we would be able to buy TV shows and movies and put them on our Nook, much like we use our iTouch today. However, we have been completely unsuccessful in this effort. Is it possible to buy a show for the NC anywhere?
Select the iPhone link...
They have just about every TV program you can think of, and then some. Not to mention movies. Even Movies still in theatres and/or haven't been released to DVD yet. <The couple I've downloaded that were still in the theatre wheren't the greatest quality. The one's I've downloaded that were pre-DVD release. No different than post DVD/VHS release.

My thanks to irunlikeagirl. I haven't ripped DVDs, yet, but I found a site (istreamnet.net) that has several TV series (including Dexter & Breaking Bad) for FREE mp4 download. You have to use Google Chrome (for some reason). I had downloaded several files, and with your instructions for HandBrake I have been able to convert them into a watchable format on my Nook. Neat!! Thanks again!

Is there any place to leagally purchase and download movies for the NC? I've tried Amazon.com, CinemaNow, RealPlayer, etc. and nothing seems to work. I'm tired of trying these magical programs (Handbrake, DVDCatalyst, etc.) that promise to rip copy protected DVD's that I've had for years. They install fine, but freeze up when I try to get them to do what they promise.

you may want to scroll up a couple of threads, click on DVD Catalyst's name and send him a personal message with your problems. DVD catalayst works fine for me, and the programmer is very helpful.

Thank you! I was wondering if this step-by-step process is the same with the new update for Nook Color? I've had mine about a year and now that the tablet is out, the software updated added a lot of extras. Do any of them affect how you covert video and then transfer to My Files on the NC now?
Again, thank you for such details instructions! Please respond if all is the same and I'm ready to attempt these steps.

The supported video formats and resolution haven't changed for the NC, according to what I've read. (You can use higher resolution on the tablet, which is able to scale it down to display, where the NC has an upper frame size limit and scales up from there for full-screen.)
If you already have DVD Catalyst, it's apparently a great program and has built-in presets for the Nook Color.
If you don't, you can also look at a tool called Handbrake; the advantage is that it's a free, open-source package; the disadvantage is that there's more work required - you need to figure out what settings to use, as it has some apple presets but no Nook Color presets.

Handbreak is fairly simple to use, just select the 'Universal' preset under Apple to convert files / DVDs for the Nook Color.

Well what i say is if you are willing to spend 8 dollars a month get NETFLIX? But first you need to go update your nook to 1.4.3 by going to nokcolor.com/update and go from there. Let me know if this helped!
Netflix is fine for streaming, but doesn't help much if you're not connected to wifi (e.g. the OP's desire to have movies for the kids to watch while on long drives.)
