Re: East of the Sun: First Impressions

I'm so glad you're enjoying it. What are your usual genres?

I was initially drawn to this book on the B&N website.  I saw that it was going to be the book featured in New Reads, so I decided to take a look.  It sounded like a very interesting book; just what I was looking for.  ( I was looking for something different from my usual genres).

So far, I am enjoying the book immensely.  The story is flowing smoothly and I like the character development. I find Tor and Rose to be a bit naive for taking off for India with little knowledge of what awaits them.  But, on the other hand, I think they are quite brave.  I think Viva is an interesting character and one I look forward to finding out more about as I get further into the book.

My usual genres?  I typically read all types of books, but I mostly find myself leaning toward  mystery, suspense, crime fiction and sometimes thrillers.  I have been drawn to historical fiction more and more lately.

Re: East of the Sun: First Impressions

I saw this book featured on the Barnes & Noble website.  I was immediately intrigued because my family and I had visited India last year.  I also love to read historical fiction.  So this read seemed to be a perfect fit.

I am enjoying getting to know the characters in this story.  On the surface, the 4 main characters seem to be shallow and naive.  The more I read, the more I discover about them.  Each one has their own demon they seem to be battling.   I am looking forward to getting further along on the story.
