Victoria has been dreaming of her escape to India--and imagining a life full of freedom and parties and men. How is the reality of it stacking up for her?
What is Tor's relationship with Ci Ci like? Do you see any similarities between Ci CI and Tor's mother?
Why does Tor fall for Ollie?
How does Tor see herself? How do her (genuine) friends see her?

Tor seems that she will do anything to stay in India away from her mother. I am afraid she is going to make some bad choices.
CiCi is becoming like Tor's mother, critical of her.
Tor seems like a great person to have as a friend.
Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.

I saw Tor as a rudderless ship when she arrived in India, Ci had the sort of superficial sophistication that young girls are often, briefly, beguiled by. Ollie is the classic bad boy, don't you think? I'm not sure I would have resisted him at 'Tor's age.

I would have Tor as a friend , exasperating sometimes, of course, but real and funny and loyal.
