I thought that Part II was a stark contrast to Part 1. It starts with "So this is war" and goes on to describe those dark days. I almost felt like I was reading a different book. Where Part I described the wealthy and the life of the expatriates in Hong Kong with their luxuries and comforts, Part II described the hardships and atrocities of war. It made me think of how Hong Kong is full of contrasts - and so is this story.
