B&N Recommends: The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid

[ Edited ]
Barnes & Noble Recommends...

Book Cover Image: Title: The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Author: Mohsin Hamid Buy It From our editors: "Mohsin Hamid's The Reluctant Fundamentalist is a psychological thriller that spans continents and cultures, taking us from the privileged confines of Princeton University to the sun-baked Greek island of Santorini to the highest echelons of American finance. It's a journey we take in less than 200 pages -- and without leaving, until the very end, a small table at a modest tearoom in Lahore, Pakistan. Narrated in a single, unforgettable voice that eloquently reveals the tragic human realities of the post-9/11 world, it is an extraordinary work of empathy and imagination that Barnes & Noble Recommends."

I'm really looking forward to this. I have a bunch of questions for Mohsin. Namely, how did he develop and maintain the psychological unease that drives the narrative and makes the book a thinking man/woman's page-turning, thriller?

I have just started reading this and I'm totally lost. Please tell me it's going to get better. I rushed out last night to buy it and was so excited to start reading and now I hope I didn't make a mistake.

How far are you in, Laura? Is the single narrative throwing you off? Stick with it. It's well worth it.

Hang in there - it's an extreme version of first person POV, but I think it's really facinating!

I read and knit and dance. Compulsively feel yarn. Consume books. Darn tights. Drink too much caffiene. All that good stuff.
