Patrick Ducharme

We meet Patrick early on in the novel, and by the end of chapter one I decided he's my kind of guy- my kind of cop too, and I was thinking, I hope he is what he seems, and doesn't turn out to be something else.

What's your take on Patrick in the early chapters?  Any worries that Jodi would hand us what appeared to be a great guy, and then pull the rug out?

Oh! yeah, Stephanie. That has happened before, hasn't it. But I really liked Patrick. He seemed to be a nice guy and very serious about his job.

I found myself looking forward to the sections of the novel that spot-lighted Patrick.  It's nice to read a "good guy" in a book like this, such an emotional roller-coaster.  He was level and calm, but the situation had his emotions whirling as well.

I like Patrick. He puts himself out there and takes charge but he's a real person. When he got the call about the shootings he rushed to the scene and into the school. That may not have been the most cautious move but he knew lives were at stake. He was the one who found Peter and he carried Josie out in his arms. I was so impressed with his actions and compassion.

Patrick was originally introduced, along with his phone-in friend Nina, in Jodi's book "Perfect Match". I was so excited when I saw that Patrick was in this book.

Also, Jordan McAfee was introduced first in "The Pact" and brought back in "Salem Falls".

I would defintely suggest both of these books to get the entire personality of these two characters. Especially Patrick. You will definitely fall in love with him in Perfect Match. He is the ultimate good guy.

I have read both books and I missed that connection also. Both of them!  Wow! My memory is failing even though its been awhile since I read "Perfect Match and  the Pact.

Luckily, Perfect Match was the book I had just finished reading before I borrowed Nineteen Minutes from a friend. I just recently became a Jodi reader - since last summer. I've read about 7 of her books since then. She is amazing. And I am really excited that she has incorporated old characters into new books!

Thanks for that info. I like when characters are intertwined throughout different books. It's fun to meet up with them again.
