The first book in Tuck's Deacon Chalk saga, Blood and Bullets, was released earlier this year and, although I didn't read it, I heard some good things about it. The PW review, while not exactly positive, was particularly interesting: "Chalk is larger than life, complete with paranormal powers, body-spanning tattoos, and sex appeal that works even on his enemies, who are positively retro in their pure evilness. Male readers looking for escape into a world where life is hard but simple and heroes don’t need plans will find this perfect beach or airport reading, but the gender politics are unlikely to find favor with female readers."
Perfect airport reading?!?
I'm not a big fan of sexist stereotypes – so I'm kind of curious about this "gender politics"... I guess even if I don't like the novel, it will make for an interesting dialogue.

I came across the first book last year..it sounds interesting and I do want to reat it...them...eventually. :-) I have so many to read that I managed to leave it at the bookstore, LOL!
