Re: DECEMBER FEATURE #3: Saints Astray by Jacqueline Carey

...and now we know! It's Saints Astray. Here's the PW review:

Publishers Weekly

Carey follows 2009’s Santa Olivia with another lively tale of postpandemic America. Loup Garron is a wild young woman with a mean right hook and modified genes, courtesy of her AWOL supersoldier father. She and her girlfriend, Pilar Ecchevarria, have finally escaped from the walled village where they grew up, but life’s still dangerous when you’re not technically human and thus lack human rights. Loup and Pilar work as bodyguards in exchange for decent paychecks and false identities. They’re safe but sidelined with no real way to help Loup’s fellow GMPs or their friends back home. When a famous rock band uses Loup as part of its image, she sees a chance to swing popular opinion to her side and make a stand for her people. Loup and Pilar’s sweet, genuine relationship will draw in new readers and satisfy returning fans. (Nov.)

SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!  I have been waiting, and waiting, and WAITING for the sequel to come out for this book!!!  I was starting to think that she would never write one!  I've been checking the stores, Goodreads, and everywhere for the follow up to Santa Olivia and figured it was going to be a stand alone.

This is awesome news!!!  I may have to re-read the first one now to refresh my memory though...2 years is a long time, LOL!

Thanks Paul you just make my day!!

Finished this book and LOVED it!  I'm so glad she continued from where the last one left off...  Thoroughly enjoyed the story and love between Pilar and Loup, plus the ending was wonderful.  Although there is room for more of the story, she did also provide a very satisfying ending as well.  :-)

Re: DECEMBER FEATURE #3: Saints Astray by Jacqueline Carey

I keep forgetting that I have a copy of Santa Olivia sitting on my bookshelf, unread. Thanks for reminding me to read it...because I love Carey, and I'm pretty sure that she can do no wrong when it comes to books. I'll be sure to pop back in here when I'm done with the first one and this one, and let you all know what I thought.
