DEMON BOUND by Caitlin Kittredge *SPOILERS POSSIBLE*

Demon Bound (Black London Series #2)

Ok I wanted to do a thread for this book because it's WONDERFUL, fantastic, and very freaking cool! Easily the best series to come out in 2009, in my opinion. Even better than the first.

Personally I was giidy to find it, when I saw it in the store. Great cover. I had enjoyed the first in the series emensely, so I thought I'd have a good time with 2. Then boom it hit me by chapter 2. Ok need to clear some time out, this book has all my attention. I was down and dumped after the last month, ever read a book that clears away the crap feelings of over 30 days, this one did. A wonderful sitting on the edge book.

I know some of are still reading it, or are about to soon. But I think there are several bits worth talking about.

Now the plot *spoilers* it very twisted with book 1, so here's the link to that conversation

I'm trying to decide whether to buy this book and would appreciate an assessment concerning the narrative and characters. I don't want to know what happens or anything. I just want to know whether the narrative's flow is smoother than Street Magic and whether the main characters are more defined/less changeable. (Note, I loved the English slang in Street Magic, so I'm not talking about that.)

This series is the awesomest!!

It's hard to top STREET MAGIC but I think this one actually does. Even scarier and sexier than the first.

Re: DEMON BOUND by Caitlin Kittredge *SPOILERS POSSIBLE*

I am excited about this one as well!  I purchased this one on the night my sons school had a fund-raiser at Barnes & Nobles.  I probably wont get to it till the new year but it is on the second to the top to read.  I can't wait to get to it.

Thanks for pulling Street Magic's thread forward!  I am going to review it and my tags in the book before I dive into this one if it is closely tied to the plot.  I think we have that demon Jack and Pete sent back.  I remember there where a few things touched on that would be cool to see again, like that person in Petes dreams of her getting/giving her, her powers.

Now that I am typing this I am wanting to get to the book faster.  Thanks!

I finished this book today, and very much enjoyed it, though not more than the first since I dearly loved Street Magic.

I will post a link to my review at BBB once it is up, and will come back soon with more comments. Thanks for starting this thread, Tigger. :smileyhappy:

Re: DEMON BOUND by Caitlin Kittredge *SPOILERS POSSIBLE*

So I finished this last night.  Wow!  What an ending...now we have to wait until the next one to find out what happens to Jack!!  Now there is at least more of a story behind Pete and what she is...but I am wondering what is in store for her?  If she will fulfill these plans for her or...  ??

Great book!  Just as good as the last one.  :-)

Re: DEMON BOUND by Caitlin Kittredge *SPOILERS POSSIBLE*

Caitlin is writing Black London #3 right now. Here's an excerpt from her blog just a few days ago:

  • Feb. 16th, 2010 at 6:36 AM

Things accomplished in real life: Life, copyedits for The Iron Thorn, and, um, that's about it. That novel is HUGE and the line by line on it took forever.

    ---

I did, however, finish "Born Under a Bad Sign" more or less on deadline, and turned it in. With that out of the way, here's what my schedule looks like now:

  • Write "The Curse of Four" and adjacent chapbook for SubPress

  • Write Bone Gods (Black London #3)....

Thanks Paul, sigh, I was hoping she was further along on the writing.  Not sure why I am complaining, I liked her Nocturne City series too.

Re: DEMON BOUND by Caitlin Kittredge *SPOILERS POSSIBLE*

I just finished this book yesterday.  I did enjoy it, although I think Street Magic was better for me.  This book had a whole story on its own with Jack.  I really enjoyed learning more about him.  I was hoping there would be more of Pete in this story learning about magic and her side of the Black.  I am thinking with the way this book ended that may happen in the next.  I am really curious to see where both Jack and Pete go in the next book and who they will be together, both magically and personally.

I just love the love/hate between these two.  They are great together with the sarcasm and bluntness.  :smileyhappy:

****SPOILERS POSSIBLE****

I was wondering on the fetch for Pete.  Pete said she doesn't have one.  I was wondering if her fetch would be an owl.  I get the owl watching them was The Hecate.  Was she the owl that use to come to Pete when she was younger?  So could she kind of be Pete's fetch?  She has always been there with Pete, longer than Jack.

I am going to ask on the dreams that Jack was having of him and Pete.  I think there may be a message in these but I think I missed it.  But, I think I read somewhere the Demon mentions it wasn't or was fun tormenting Jack in his dreams.  Was the Demon the one feeding Jacks dreams of him and Pete?  Possibly pushing Jack and Pete together?  There was mention by Pete's guardian if they stayed together the world would burn, but yet she had to start the world anew from the ashes.  Could the Demon be aware that them being together or not together could change things?  Was he toying with this?

I just have to metion as well... Jack must be a very powerful player in all that will happen.  His guardian said she would not be able to come back to him, when he sold his soul to the Demon.  But, in the end she came to rescue him from the Demon for help with the major doings to happen.  That has to be a big no no some where in the dealings.  Curious to see what happens!
