JANUARY FEATURE #1: Beneath the Skin by Adrian Phoenix

Beneath the Skin, the third installment of Adrian Phoenix's The Maker's Song series (A Rush of Wings and In the Blood), is the perfect book to start out the new year with – and here's why:

1. This series is superb. Sure, you hear a lot about LKH's Anita Blake novels and Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan saga and Patty BrIggs' Mercy Thompson sequence but for those true hardcore fans of paranormal fantasy – those who have read hundreds of paranormal fantasy novels like myself – Adrian Phoenix's The Maker's Song series is arguably one of the very best series out there.

2. Adrian Phoenix will be visiting this very forum in a few days! Adrian will be here January 11th – January 15th so here's your chance to not only read a great series but to ask the author questions, share your comments, etc. And not only is Adrian is brilliantly talented writer, she's a great person too so this really should be a treat for all of us!

3. Let's call it the "cool" factor. Yeah, we've all heard about how sexy Jacob is or how dreamy Edward is, well, let me tell you something – Adrian's character Dante Baptiste (vampire rock star) makes those Twilight boys look like Boy Scouts!

4. Disney (which includes Miramax, Touchstone Pictures, etc.) recently purchased these domain names – DANTETHEVAMPIREMUSCIAN.COM, DANTEROCKSTHENIGHT.COM and DANTEBYMOONLIGHT.COM – so there's a good chance that some day soon, Adrian's series may be made into a movie or movies!!!

Bottom line – READ THESE BOOKS!!!   :smileyhappy:

This is one the best series I have ever read!  I read Beneath the Skin in 2 days... just could not put it down... actually couldn't put down any of them!  If you haven't read this series go get it!

I couldn't agree with you more, HellKat (great name, btw). Also, if you have any questions or comments for Adrian feel free to post them right here – she just might be stopping by early!  :smileywink:

These are terrific books!  Start at the beginning with A Rush of Wings, get to know Dante, Heather and of the other richly wonderful characters in the world Adrian Phoenix has created.  Do it.  Now!

Adrian Phoenix's Maker's Song series has easily become my favorite series to read.  Her characters are darkly unique and the world she creates sucks me right into the pages, I seriously couldn't put any of her books down!!  For any one who loves to read Urban Fiction, if you haven't read em' already...Go check them out!!

Well, let's just throw it out there – how AWESOME would these novels be if Disney did make them into motion pictures?!?

I don't want to be boo'd out of this thread, but I have a Kindle...

ok.  nobody from B&N came to my door and took me out.  Now, what I hate about e-books is you can buy them with the click of a few buttons!!!!

Just bought the first book in this series!  No self control!  The other two are on my TBR list, (which currently is stacked at 87+, thanks to all of you).

Now I have to rush through this romance (Sizzle by Julie Garwood - Fav Author gotta give her props) I am reading, then finish Tempest Rising and then on to this one... aaargh.

HELP! I've fallen and can't reach my book!!!!

This would make an amazing movie... there is a ton of action, not to mention that the characters and the dynamics between them would be awesome!  I would love to see how they would depcit Club Hell.  I would also like to see what they would do with the Fallen.

Re: JANUARY FEATURE #1: Beneath the Skin by Adrian Phoenix

Adrian Phoenix proves once again in Beneath the Skin that she is one of the best PNR/UF authors out there. Boy, can she write! I fell in love with Dante and Heather from the beginning, and, even after three books, I'm still clamoring for more. Phoenix's characters and their back stories are very well-developed. Combine that with the unique plot, and it's easy to understand why The Maker's Song was one of my favorite series of '09 (and considering I read 200+ books last year, that's no easy feat).

The world of the Elohim, and Dante's newly-discovered place within it, is just begging to be explored. Please, please let there be a fourth installment in this series!

I've heard at least 5 books in the saga but I guess that we can ask Adrian next week!

Great!  I bought the first book in this series a while back when I was looking for some additional authors to try. It is still marked on my shelf as "to be read", but now sounds like it is a good time jump on this series.

OK., you all convinced me, I went out and bought the whole series.  Any books that have Paul and Teresa this excited have to be awesome.  You guys haven't lead me astray yet.  I can't wait to start reading them as soon as I finish my current book.

3mm:

I have NO doubt that you'll love these books. As a longtime reviewer, I get to read some amazing novels but I also have to read a fair share of mediocre and just plain bad stuff too – and out of the hundreds (maybe thousands) of paranormal fantasy novels I've read, Adrian's work is at the very, very top of the food chain. These novels aren't the literary equivalent of Taco Bell, they're filet mignon....

Re: JANUARY FEATURE #1: Beneath the Skin by Adrian Phoenix

This is probably the best series that I have read. I've read the first two books several times and just plowed through Beneath The Skin in one day, just couldn't put it down. I like a more gritty aspect to my books and The Maker's Song series delivers just that and more. This is the first series that I recommend to anyone looking for new material to read and is into this genre. It's been a long time since I've read a book and wished that the characters were real. I want to know Dante and Heather, Lucien and Von. Especially Dante!

I couldn't agree more, rikera – and welcome to the forums! Hope you stick around because Adrian Phoenix will be here all next week!    :smileyhappy:
