Re: JANUARY FEATURE #1: Silver-Tongued Demon by Jaye Wells

This one is the "no-brainer" of the month. I love Jaye Wells and I've been waiting for this series to make the ascendsion into the very elite of paranormal sagas. From some of your feedback  already, this may be the installment to do it – and I L-O-V-E the cover art!

Great idea – I think it's on the back of all of the Sabina books except the first one! #iloveorbitbooks

JAYE!

Is it true that the next Sabina book, Blue-Blooded Vamp (June 1, 2012) is the last?!?

Blue-Blooded Vamp (Sabina Kane Series #5)

Overview

The epic conclusion to the amazing Sabina Kane urban fantasy series.

Sabina Kane is on the hunt. Her prey: Cain, the father of the vampire race and the one who murdered her family and her friends. Unfortunately, Cain is hunting Sabina, too.

The one man who holds the key to defeating Cain is, of course, Abel. A mage with secrets to spare and, hopefully, the power to match it. Unfortunately, for Sabina, he's in Rome and may not want to be found.

Sabina sets out for Italy with her friends, Giguhl and Adam Lazarus, to track down the only man who can get her the revenge she hungers for. But will he help her or oppose her? And just who is Abel, really? Worst of all, when Sabina figures out the goddess Lilith has a plan for her-she realizes this trip is getting deadlier by the minute. As they say: when in Rome-SURVIVE.

Yes, my friends, 'tis true. Blue-Blooded Vamp will be the final Sabina Kane book. I've already finished writing it, and I am very happy with the way everything turned out. However, Giguhl's final bombshell may scar you for life. Brace yourselves!

Hi Jaye

I read this book in one sitting and and loved it.  I have a lot to say about it but will wait until a little later in the month so I don't give away any spoilers.  I am sorry that this series is ending.  It ranks in my top 5 favorite series.

Re: JANUARY FEATURE #1: Silver-Tongued Devil by Jaye Wells

[ Edited ]

I've reached page 203 in this 418 page book. The narrative has been smooth, interesting and entertaining, but there hasn't been a lot of urgency to the story. There's a lot of diverse things happening that just haven't melded yet into a story that somehow threatens Sabina and her world. There's an interesting investigation of the violent murders of a human and a mage in the first third of the book, but that investigation has been abandoned at the order of Orpheus, head of the Hekate Council.

At this point the story feels like a bridge to a final assault by Cain. Masie is mentally fractured and has seemingly lost her procrastination ability despite an upcoming ceremony in which she is suppose to render a prophesy that will precede the signing of the peace treaty among the Dark Race leaders. Sabina seems a bit younger to me in terms of her decisions and reactions. I suppose her uncertainty makes her seem younger. Plus, she suffers from ominous dreams and harbors suspicions about Cain, but hasn't really done anything positive about it so far. Sabina is also torn about Masie. She blames herself for not finding Masie earlier, and really doesn't know if she has made the right decisions concerning Masie.

As regards the book's romantic sub-lot, the most entertaining parts for me concern Sabina's unease with Slade and her failure to tell Adam about her one-nighter with Slade. There's a well-written sex scene, but the Slade thing looms. I'm just waiting for it to blow up in Sabina's face.

Hi Phyllis! I'm so glad you enjoyed this installment. I can't wait to hear more details thoughts, but I appreciate you not sharing spoilers. It's hard to let this series go, but in the end I think it's best to wrap up the story before it becomes drama for drama's sake. Happy Reading!

Wow--I didn't expect that!!!:smileysurprised:

When everything goes to hell, it really goes to hell!

I'm not going to talk about what happens in the book. I don't want to spoil it for anyone else. But, I didn't expect it! Sure, I expected some interference by Cain, but I certainly didn't expect a dispositive event in terms of one the characters.

Plus, the second half of the book delivers an intense and convincing narrative about Sabina's personal life. (Note, I'm not going to tell anyone whether Sabina and Adam split-up, you'll just have to read the book.:smileyhappy:)

I will say that Sabina realizes that she's become too soft and too indecisive. She realizes that her denial of her darker vampire side has been a mistake. Earlier, I said that Sabina seemed younger and more uncertain that her usual self in the first half of the book. Well, in the second half of the book she recognizes those changes. She realizes that her vampire side made her strong, brave and confident, and that she lost her edge when she embraced only her mage side.
