This is usually TiggerBear's province, but she's offline right now. So, here's a link to her genre series primer thread http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/Paranormal-Urban-Fantasy/Paranormal-Fantasy-Primer-for-Newbie.... Go to page five of that thread for TiggerBear's most recently revised list.

In addition to the series listed in TiggerBear's list, I recommend:

Adrian Phoenix's intense and mesmerizing Maker's Song series (A Rush of WingsBeneath the Skin  and Beneath the Skin) and her brand new supernatural series that starts with Black Dust Mambo

Stacia Kane's groundbreaking Downside Ghosts series, (Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts Series #2) Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts Series #1) and the third book which will be release around July 27 entitled City of Ghosts;

Nicole Peeler's enchanting UF series that starts with Tempest Rising (Jane True Series #1)  and continues with Tracking the Tempest;

Jaye Wells' Sabina Kane series, (Red-Headed Stepchild (Sabina Kane Series #1)The Mage in Black (Sabina Kane Series #2);

Holzner's new UF series that starts with Deadtown to be followed up in December with Hellforged;

Johnson's exuberant supernatural series set in the roaring twenties that starts with Moonshine

Glass' new series set in Atlanta that starts with Shadow Blade; and,

Estep's intense Elemental Assassin's series that starts with Spider's Bite and continues with Venom;

That's all I can think of right now in the female protagonist category, Note, I enjoy several other series that feature male protagonists including Mike Carey's exorcist series and several more hard core fantasy series such as Melton's that starts with Blood Vice and the Joe Pitt series by Charlie Huston.

Please look at TiggerBear's list (on page five of the link I gave you above). It contains really classic UFs.

Re: More Paranormal and Urban Fantasy!

 I'd add that there's really a lot of variety out there, so it might be helpful to know which elements you loves in Hamilton's and Harrison's work. Anita Blake is vampire-centric, Merry Gentry is fae. The Hollows is very magic heavy with some heavy vamp elements. Although looking at that, maybe you just like a little of everything. :smileywink:

Some additional suggestions are: Suzanne McLeod, Jeanne Stein, Kat Richardson, Rachel Caine, Vicki Pettersen. And let's not forget the guys: Jim Butcher, Mark Del Franco, Anton Strout. Lots and lots of variety out there for every palette. Enjoy!

Hey JayeWells. Thanks for replying ;p Anyways, you're right. I love Hamilton's series Anita Blake because they have it all. :smileyvery-happy: That's why I was a little confuse as to what book I should read since most are specifically down to either a werewolf, fey or vamps. But anyways, I'm open to anything that interests me :smileyhappy: You're also on my list :smileytongue:
