Re: New and Recommended

I am really loving Jeri Smith-Ready's Wicked Game.  It's set in a radio station, where various vampires host radio shows based in the time period they lived in.  It's humorous but also really involving.

I just got into reading the series with Kitty Norville. Very amusing and entertaining.

Re: New and Recommended

I love the Kitty books, too!  Wicked Game reminded me of them in several ways.

Now I'm reading The Spiral Hunt by Margaret Ronald.  It's set in contemporary Boston, and there's all this cool but dangerous magic going on.  The heroine can smell/sense magic and track anything.

Re: New and Recommended

I just discovered this one on the "hot new fiction" sign at a local store - Its called Thirst by Christopher Pike:

As to blood --
ah, blood, the whole subject fascinates me. I do like that as well, warm and dripping, when I am thirsty. And I am often thirsty....

Alisa has been in control of her urges for the five thousand years she has been a vampire. She feeds but does not kill, and she lives her life on the fringe to maintain her secret. But when her creator returns to hunt her, she must break her own rules in order to survive.

Her quest leads her to Ray. He is the only person who can help her; he also has every reason to fear her. Alisa must get closer to him to ensure her immortality. But as she begins to fall in love with Ray, suddenly there is more at stake than her own life....

It's got some good reviews...I think I'll pick it up!

I've got that book in my TBR pile...it sounded really good when I found it in the grocery store...I just haven't read it yet.  Story of my life!!  :-)  I think there's a second one out too!

The second one in that series, BAD TO THE BONE, just came out recently.

I have ROSEMARY AND RUE waiting for me, as well.

Got a gift card from a friend yesterday and so I picked up Rosemary and Rue today.  But while I was there they had a new release that just came out today and it looks like her dabut book.  The author is Tracey O'Hara and the book is called Night's Cold Kiss.  It is the first book in her Dark Brethren series.

Thirst is actually a compilation of the first three books in a six book "teen" series by Pike

I found the first 4 at a used book store and got them and I had to special order the last two and they were pretty hard to find (it took the book store a month to find them)

it is a very interesting twist on what we are used to from urban fantacy and I'm happy that they are being reprinted.

I recommend it!

Another new book I recommend is

Queene of Light (Lightworld/Darkworld Series #1)

It's quite good and a plus, the next book in the trillogy is due out next month and the third the month after!

I just looked at my book collection and realized that I'm a Bibliophile like in Read or Die!

I just picked this one up as well.  :-)  I loved her blood ties series...glad she has another one out, although it looks like a quick read...or three!

These books are excellent.  I read them when they were first released as single books.  I love Christopher Pike's writing style but unfortunately the only adult novel I have read by him was no where near as good as his young adult fiction.  Hope you enjoy the compilations of the Last Vampire series!

Re: New and Recommended

Recently, I got hooked on Blood of the Beast by Tamela Quijas and Dark of Knight by T.L. Mitchell.  Creepy but gutsy romances, sort of off the normal type I read but still good.

Miry:

Is Blood of the Beast an old book? I couldn't find it on the B&N website – all I came across was I Can't Cook Because I'm A White Girl  by that author. Just curious....

Found the book on Amazon.  Looks like the publishing date was June 09.  Got good reviews, below is a description from one reader...

I was told by a friend of a new writer Tamela Quijas. I ordered her book Blood of the Beast along with another book written by her here on Amazon called Angels Fire, Demon Blood. Blood of the Beast was a wonderful, exciting, well written story that I had a hard time putting down.

Baron Demetri Ivanovich Sergi Daskova Petronov, is a young ,charming, rich Russian Officer and Nobleman who has a way with "the ladies". He meets Desmodine and she forever changes his life. He now walks the night as a vampire,a demon who no longer has a beating heart. He abhors what he is and for 100 years has never harmed a living soul. He feeds from blood he buys from a "friend" at the coroners office.

Valentina Kureyev is a second generation police officer, with her family roots from Russia. As a police detective she is working on a case of a "serial killer" who is terrorizing her city and the bodies are being left in her mothers and grandmothers neighborhood, the Russian Ghetto area. Val is young, strong willed and being in a masculine environment has a mouth like a truck driver and thinks she is invincible.

This is a story about Demetri trying to protect Val, as he has assumed the criminal is another Vampire. In doing so, her absolute spunk and tenacity to do her job to protect the people around her weaves a spell over him. He slowly takes her into his heart (the heart he shouldn't have) and falls in love with her.

The book is a love story, a mystery thriller, and is about love and redemption...

Re: New and Recommended

Good Morning, Everyone!

Thanks so much for the listing of my book, Miry and the wonderful followup from VegasBookworm.  Blood of the Beast is available on the 'other' book site and I'm waiting for it to appear here.  Also, I have Angel's Fire, Demon's Blood and My Lord Raven, both of which I am waiting to load on the B&N website.  :smileysad:  Unfortunately, when you search under my name, right now, all you can find is my cookbook.  Please be patient with B&N.

Thank you so much for the sweet comments!
