Richelle Mead's Dark Swan #4 novel out December 27!

Well it's been a little slow around here...  Thought I would add something else...  I am SO looking forward to this next book, especially the way the last one ended!  Where the heck is everyone?  :-(

Crude, I still have the last one sitting on my TBR shelf.

Teresa, was Iron Crowned any good in your opinion?  I love this series, but because of the horrible reviews I heard on last one I have been avoiding reading it.

I'm so excited for this release!!! But... did I read somewhere that this will be the last in the series?? I hope not, I really like the characters and the world- I'm a little attached to them. Plus, after the ending of the last book, there has got to be SO much more to be written!

According to Richelle's website this is the last book in the series.

Gotta comment on this cover art – really strange color choice, don't you think? Look at the previous covers....

Hmmmmmm, well I guess it's a softer color?  But I don't think it really means anything, LOL!  I like it!  :-)

It looks like who ever designed the cover just found their old water color set. :smileywink:

Very excited about this one, can't believe this is the last one.:smileysad:

Her Georgina Kinkaid and Vampire Academy ended this year too... wonder if she has any other series in the works besides the Bloodlines Series.

Re: Dark Swan #4 (Shadow Heir) Whaddya Think???

I just finished this weekend, and I actually really liked it! It was definitely not my favorite in the series by any means though- it felt a little hollow, if that makes sense. I did like the new characters, and the adventures. Kiyo is just annoying, and so single-minded- even I wanted to kill him! Like a dog (or fox!) with a bone.

The ending was not as bad as I was expecting, but much more open-ended than I would have liked for a series finale. Richelle Mead wrapped up the Succubus series so much better, so I know she can do it! Maybe the publisher cut the series off pre-maturely, or did the author?? Hmmm.... I can definitely see some good spin-off possibilities from the way things were left! I'll keep my fingers crossed...

Re: Dark Swan #4 (Shadow Heir) Whaddya Think???

Oh, and p.s. I don't really like any of the covers- mostly because that's not what Eugenie looks like as she is written! She has red hair! And the leather? Not in the books I read... I don't like when they put a random picture on covers. The colors don't bother me so much, but misrpresentation of the main character does.

Thirsty,

I loved the book and I would definately recommend it to other readers, but the ending was a disappointment.  I loved that fact that Dorian was the father of Eugenie's babies.  I was so excited, he was finally going to get his HEA with her.  Then BAM Eugenie decided to selfishly take that away from him by not telling him.  I understand that they could still be in danger, but come on I think RM was pushing it a little.  Dorian would move both worlds to keep his children safe and E knows that.  Also, E was also complaining about trust between them, she even cheating on him because of it and she goes and keeps this huge secret.  No good.  I just felt like there should have been an Epilogue or somthing with him meeting his children.  This is all just my opinion.  I enjoyed the entire series and would read it again.  Also, there better be a spin off, "Lighting Love Child or Thundro King...LOL.

I was so excited that Dorian was really the father of the twins!!! But, like you, am really disappointed RM chose to keep him in the dark in the end- that is not ok. Eugenie was so hypocritical in her decision (trust), and knowing that Dorian wants kids more than anything and her keeping that from him? No way, not cool on any level. It is really selfish. How can she even look him in the eye? I get that she wants to keep them safe, but she, especially with Dorian, has the means to do so. There could have been some sort of compromise or something. That part of the ending really annoyed me- did not sit well with me at all.

But I also still love the series, and maybe until (please please) there's a spin-off, I'll just pretend the ending was different:smileyfrustrated:

Love your spin-off titles, btw! So many good possibilities.... (I'm just not creative enough to come up with them myself!)

Re: Dark Swan #4 (Shadow Heir) Whaddya Think???

[ Edited ]

Well I'm just popping in here quickly because I just read the end of chapter 24 and suspect its what all the hullabaloo is about.  LOL   I kind of figured Paigel was going to end up being the Storm King's first born grandson because of what he had been doing...made me go hmmmmmmmm.  I guess when we've had this prophecy since the beginning and poor ole' Eugenie was raped and what-have-you because of it...I can see why people are kind of pi$$ed about it.  Me, I'm happy for her because at least she can take her kids out of hiding and raise them without having to worry.  :-)  But first I should read the end of the book I suppose....LOL!

...Oh and another suspicion I have...she's going to go back to the twins and they are going to have RED hair like Dorian!  Surprise!!  LOL  Well I'm hoping anyways....

Re: Dark Swan #4 (Shadow Heir) Whaddya Think???

[ Edited ]

Well, as Rachel Morgan would say, crap on toast....   Talk about your moral dilema's. First of all I'm very said that Paigel was killed before they even had a chance to turn him around.  :-(  I am also VERY glad the twins belong to Dorian but fricken Kiyo for not telling her!!  What a horrible decision to make though...  Tell Dorian and probably end up bringing the twins to the Otherworld and then worrying about something happening to them, all the time, OR not telling him and leaving them in hiding until they are old enough...but really having limited contact with them.  Just not being there to raise them them would KILL me.  I guessed that it was a bit of foreshadwoing earlier in the book when there was mention of the Charles and Candace not being able to have children...I almost though they might run off with the twins but I guess in the end it's nice for them and they are good people.  Not quite the ending I was hoping for but it was nice her ending up with Dorian...that last scene was very cute.  :-)  I also loved his name, Thundro, LOL!

But....I would still tell him about his children.

Re: Dark Swan #4 (Shadow Heir) Whaddya Think???

Someone on Goodreads actually wrote an alternate ending to the book + epilogue. Go check it out- needs a little polishing, but I like it much better than the actual! (That makes me sad...)

OMG!  I love the alternate ending!  I am actually going to accept this as the "real" ending.  :smileyhappy:  I don't know why Eugenie didn't use the Iron Crown on the Willow Land!!! That would have made so much sense.  Love it!  Thank you, I needed that.
