Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Re: What are you currently reading?

I just finished Daemon's Mark--which is the first "grown up" book i've read in awhile.  I read it in one sitting (a couple of hours) which I haven't done in awhile (and missed).  Thing are so hectic that I seldom read for fun any more, it's all keeping up with the Steampunk/YA genres (and I do a lousy job at that, lol).

Anyway, I liked the book, but the tot took offense to the cover, because it's similar to one of the Anna strong covers (Anna is "her" vampire, she and Anna corespond, lol.  Jeanne Stein is so nice and patient with the tot).

It was a fun, fast read, and I liked how everything circled around while delivering some good surprises (and some predictable ones, but hey, I would have been upset if a certain character hadn't appeared, lol).

I highly recommend Encounter at North Road House.  When a masked, unbeatable psycho-killer enters a house to take more lives, the house that he enters is haunted by inhuman creatures and ghosts, who shut him in.  The masked psychopath then goes to war with the ghosts and creatures of the haunted house.

The masked-psycho thought he was moving on another ordinary house - but what he enters into is a haunted realm.  The best thing about this book is who is the predator and who is the prey?  This one just came out and highly recommended.

Oh my...it's next on my list.  I'm VERY sad this series is ending. :-(  It was the 2nd one I fell in love with...kind of has some "sentimental value" to me.  God, I hope nobody dies...that would kill me....

Ummm I hate to tell you, but prepare yourself.....someone dies.  The ending was sweet though.  I liked how she wrapped everything up.

Re: What are you currently reading?

i have to promote this book because it it not a book i would normally like but i did.  It was a good read and fun.   Soulless by gail carriger.  I love both in the series, thought they were well written and there was no part of the book that was not necessary.

Usually alot of paranormal book have all this sex that is totally uninvolved with plot deveoplemtn this one is a very tight book comparatively

It's good, well the first one anyway. Kind of a cross between paranormal and gaslight.

Shifter

This is one of my favorite series, and I just finished reading an advance copy of the latest by Virginia Kantra - I can hardly wait for the next now! Her shorter stories are great, too.

Re: What are you currently reading?

Susan - you'll be lucky if you start reading it now. I picked up Virginia's first book at random, and it was so good I rushed out to get the next book within an hour of finishing it. I was soooo frustrated, because it turned out the second book hadn't been released yet! I had to wait MONTHS for it. I can almost guarantee if you read one, you'll be hooked.

Re: What are you currently reading?

I finally finished:

Storm Born (Dark Swan Series #1)

I have been moving across the world, so it took me longer then usual to read this one (plus I squeezed a romance novel in the mix too).

This was an excellent read!  I can't help but compare it to the Merry Gentry novels (a more R rated novel instead of NC17).  Don't get me wrong it was the same,  but dealing the wth gentry and (SPOILER) baby thing was very similar.  I loved how Richelle Mead built up Eugenie, she is so strong yet soft and vulnerable too.  What a great character... all the characters were wonderful, especially Dorian.  :smileyhappy:

Currently Reading:

Thorn Queen (Dark Swan Series #2)

Right when I closed Storm Born, I opened this one!  I couldn't wait.  Whats next for Eugenie...

HELP! I've fallen and can't reach my book!!!!

Re: What are you currently reading?

i have read both of the parasol protectorate books and i enjoyed them both.  I have read Storm born and enjoyed it so am moving onto Thorn queen.

Thanks for the word "steampunk"  i had to look up what you were writting about as i didn't get it from your message.

Maybe it would be more constructive if we posted books we just read with a short yeah or nay?  this way it is just a list of books with no idea of the review.

I wish whomever keeps posting that roadhouse book would stop!  i am never going to read it now due to the spam!  it is like that swiffer duster comerical.  You see stupidity over and over and it becomes a negitive.

I am hoping to publsih my childrens novel with in the next month on amazon.  it is for 6 to 10 year olds.  Wish me luck!  It will be an ebook.  And no i won't shamelessily promote it on here.

I agree about the roadhouse book...it's getting ridiculous.  I'm just scrolling right past them now.  I really want to click that "report abuse to the moderator" link though.  I am not going to read it either.
