This was a tough choice, and I have definitely added a ton of books to my TBR pile in this past week as there have been some fantastic suggestions out there (thanks everyone!!) but this series has been on there for a while so I thought I should give this one a go!
ThirstyFlea, Don't feel bad, I'm just starting the series too. I finished the first one last night and loved it. I bought the second one, but had to exert some intense will-power as I had to get up for work this morning, I know if I started the second one, I would stay up all night reading, I just want to know what happens. And thanks to everyone in this thread to turning me onto so many great reads that my TBR list is out of control (in a very good way). I haven't had this much fun reading in a long time. Thanks ya'll.

Oh, I do hope you enjoy the series as much as I have. It is great and Sabina's growth as a character through out is really well done.
Oh, and don't worry about how late we are, at least you're reading it now. ;D

Great choice! You are in for a treat!
IMO, the Sabina Kane series is one of the most dynamic Urban Fantasy sagas being written today. Sabina is completely engaging. She's tough but emotionally honest. Her internal conflict just sucks the reader in. Plus, the lead supporting character, Sabina's mischief demon sidekick named Giguhl, is one of my favorite characters. He's outrageously irreverent, a bit ridiculous and just plain fun. This fourth book spins the most complex and nuanced narratives to date culminating in a whopper of an ending. I loved this book!
Dalnewt,
I'm 100 pages in and loving it! lol. Giguhl is great, and you can't forget about **bleep** Willow and all the others. ;D Yes, I can't wait to finish this one and the fifth and final book to come out! June, June is the next book.

Here's a B&N link to the fifth and concluding book in this series:
Blue-Blooded Vamp (Sabina Kane Series #5).
I'm really looking forward to reading it in June, but it will be a bittersweet experience as Wells' has indicated that the fifth book will end the series. I hate to see an end to the story featuring such a dynamic heroine. And, boy will I miss Giguhl! Willow too!

Bittersweet is the perfect word, dalnewt! I'm sooo psyched for Blue-Blooded Vamp but sooo sad at the same time.
But, hey, isn't it going to be great to see where Jaye goes next?

Red-Headed Stepchild....good choice!! Another great series!
I loved Blood, Smoke & Mirrors! I just want more of it, but there's not another one so far....
I just finished Third Grave Dead Ahead , and it was a-ma-zing. Loved it!!
However, I'm now in the typical book-addicts predicament of "what next?"
I had planned on Divergent.
But I'm also debating on starting Red-Headed Stepchild (Sabina Kane Series #1) (following A_Wilson's lead
), or starting in on Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin Series #1) . Oh.... decisions, decisions....
I finally read Divergent and Hunger Games this weekend during a read-a-thon I participated in..so glad I did..they were excellent. I read Bone Crossed too..loved it! and Best Man Worst Man..but alas that review was banned..not sure why..ugh

I really enjoyed this book and have just bought the 2nd book in this series. This book has a new fresh twist on vamps, weres and witches, with Greek gods mixed in as well. I am so glad I dug this out of my TBR pile!
Next up......
I picked up the latest Dark Breed novel as well on the weekend...but I really need to read the first one. LOL!
Also picked up:

VERY excited to read this one in Rachel Caine's Outcast series...it sounds like her last in the Weather Warden series though... :-(

And while searching through the Sci Fi / Fantasy books I came across this one!!! Check out the cover...this guy looks really bad a$$ and it sounds REALLY good!

He lives to kill monsters. He keeps his city safe. And his silver hollow-points and back-from-the-dead abilities help him take out any kind of supernatural threat. But now an immortal evil has this bad-ass bounty hunter dead in its sights. . .
Ever since a monster murdered his family, Deacon Chalk hunts any creature that preys on the innocent. So when a pretty vampire girl "hires" him to eliminate a fellow slayer, Deacon goes to warn him--and barely escapes a vampire ambush. Now he's got a way-inexperienced newbie hunter to protect and everything from bloodsuckers to cursed immortals on his trail. There's also a malevolent force controlling the living and the undead, hellbent on turning Deacon's greatest loss into the one weapon that could destroy him. .

Darker After Midnight (Midnight Breed Series #10)
Yet another series that made the leap to hardback. My wallet is not happy cause there is no way Im waiting for the paperback for most series.
Anyway, this is Chase's book. Last we saw him, he saved the Order by giving himself up to the police so they wouldn't storm the compound. Now the Order is on the run and Chase is stuck in human hands.
Tavia identified Chase as the assassin in the last book. Now she's back to pick him out of a police line up. However, when the senator shows up, Chase goes nuts, chucks a fellow inmate through the glass to the viewing room and goes after the senator. Thinking Chase is some sort of madman, she lets the police put her in protective custody. Too bad that doesn't stop Chase from kidnapping her.
Chase knows there is something special about Tavia. While trying to keep her safe from Dragos' minions, they start to unravel the truth of her past and what she means to Dragos' big plan.
There is a lot of stuff happening in this book. Adrian finally reveals what Dragos has been up to. Even though he's hurt the Order, they still interrupt his plans and force him to move on to plan B, which changes the rules. This could easily be the last book of the series, but there are at least two more books planned. Everyone in the order has been the focus of a book. Where is she going next? I can see maybe focusing on the others like Tavia, but she'll have to start introducing new characters to keep the series going. It will be interesting to see what she does next.
Next I picked up a new novella by Anya Bast
This series has an interesting premise. The military worked on creating super solders based on fairy tale creatures. The results? Doomsyear. A virus swept through the population and those that didn't die were turned into vampires, werewolves, or monsters. Very few of the survivors remained humans. When the council, a group of psychics, declares that Kylie will mate with a vampire and a werewolf, her life is turned upside down.
Next up is a book that's been sitting in my TBR pile for a while...
Darkness Unbound (Dark Angels Series #1)
Oooooooooh I love Anya Bast and that one sounds really good... :-) Gotta go find that one. I also love Keri Arthur's books and am still trying to read her spinoff, LOL!

The Anya Bast novella was ebook only. I think that whole series will be only via ebook...
So I finished up the first in Keri Arthur's spinoff series.
Darkness Unbound (Dark Angels Series #1)
Risa is all grown up and living with her two best friends. That doesn't stop her from hanging out with her mom and Aunt Riley each week for lunch, something we saw in the Riley books.
Being half Aedh, Risa can walk the gray plains and see reapers, those that take the souls of the dead to the light or dark path. Her mom asks her to use her skills for the child of a client, who got mysteriously sick and lapsed into a coma. Risa reluctantly agrees and discovers that the girl's soul has been ripped from her body. All of a sudden, Risa has reapers, vampires, and other Aedh questioning her about her father, who they all think is involved in the theft. Not only does she need to figure out who is stealing souls, someone is sending goons after her and her friends, she has a repear shadowing her every move, and she's falling for a sexy Aedh. Oh and something weird is going on with her mother....
This book has a lot going on and nicely sets up the major story arc for the series. Be prepared for a shocker at the end! Also, if you read the back cover blurb for book two, it will kinda spoil the ending of book 1....you've been warned. We get to see snippets of Riley, Quinn, Rhoan, and Zander in here. Risa also mentions some of Riley's kids. Oh and we find out a little about one of Riley's old lovers.....his son is the book too. If you haven't read Arthur's Riley books, you can get by jumping into this one. Arthur didn't spend a lot of time explaining the world or the supporting cast...she mentions people, events, and places from the Riley series in passing...but I don't think it will detract from the story if you don't know or remember the details.
Next up? I'm going to read the Adrian Phoenix short story then either Dark Angels #2 or the new Anya Bast book, Midnight Enchantment.

I have been devouring the Kate Daniels series. In a month, I have read the first three and am about halfway through Magic Bleeds. I LOVE this series. I am so bummed that Magic Slays is the last book out right now. I love the relationship between Kate and Curran. It has progressed at a really realistic pace. I liked the slow burn. A slow burn makes the moment that they do hook up, I am not saying whether they do or not for spoiler reasons, that much more enjoyable. I cannot heap enough praise on this phenomenal, imaginative, and immersive urban fantasy series. After I finish, I plan on catching up with The Edge series, and I will totes be checking out the spin off series with Andrea whom I love!!!
On the YA side, I am also finishing up Destined, the most recent House Of Night novel. It is awesome so far. One of the better YA series that I have read. It is head and shoulders above Twilight.

I've finally got round to reading
A Brush of Darkness. The book is entertaining but the writing is uneven. The focus skips from erotica to lighthearted comedy to vividly described fantasy to supernatural mystery. Note, the writing is good, sometimes very good; but, the changes in tone were a bit disconcerting. Nonetheless, I truly enjoyed different parts of this book.
I particularly liked the quirky, twenty-something heroine Abby Sinclair. She's eccentric, witty, unassuming and emotionally damaged I couldn't exactly relate to her, but I was entertained and engaged by her. Plus, the primary supporting characters, (a diminutive unicorn named Phineas, a sultry and seemingly conceited incubus named Brystion and a surly archangel named Robert), are amusing if a bit one-dimensional.
The story is part erotica, part lighthearted contemporary fantasy and part supernatural mystery/adventure. It starts with Abby running a bookstore and magical Midnight Market as the TouchStone (human anchor) for a faerie woman who acts as the local faerie Protectorate. Her faerie boss has been missing for months, and Abby is engaged in bluffing her way through her daily duties. Then, she's confronted by an dark and sultry incubus named Brystion. He insists upon an investigation into the disappearance of his succubus sister. He also informs Abby of the mysterious deaths of other succubi.
The story unwinds unevenly as the focus shifts from comedy to romance to investigation to quasi-graphic sex to nightmare horror. Dream sequences regularly punctuate the narrative as Brystion enters Abby's dreams and Abby eventually learns to project herself into a amorphous dimension called Dreamland. The first person narrative by Abby culminates in an intense, magic-packed packed climax with an unresolved romantic twist at the end.
I rated this book as four stars. It's choppy but entertaining--a blend of paranormal romance, supernatural mystery and fantasy adventure enhanced by interesting touches of fae mythology, quasi-horror, amusing pop-cultural references and vivid descriptions. Here are examples of the writing:
I was outraged.
I was livid, even.
I was hopelessly out of my league.
The golden edges of his eyes faded away, "Are you allright?"
Redheaded and petite, the subject was lounging in a massive hot tub of green and gold marble. Her torso was that of a human woman, her hips curving into the body of a silver snake. A leather corset hugged her waist, tight and glossy black, the shadows offset by a rainbow headscarf and violet teashade glasses. The snake-woman held an elegant violin to her cheek, a golden key poking from between succulent lips.
...If the bookstore was shabby and used, the Marketplace was anything but. Glittering and warm, it had an aura of hominess that shone about the place. Rich woods, soft carpets, and magnificent tapestries--all of it lush and comfortably mystical. Small balls of witchlight floated up by the ceiling, adding a sparking glow to everything the pastel hues touched.
A humorous paragraph describing Phineas' habits reads, "Tapping his horn on his plate, he made a little grunt that sounded an awful lot like 'more.' I tossed him a spoonful of eggs, sucking on my lower lip as he buried his face in the cheese. Between the underwear, the leg humping , and the single-minded eating, it was almost like living with a tiny, preternatural fratboy. All I needed was to trip over some empty cans of Natty Light."
I leaned over the edge of the dock to listen to the slap of the tide. The way the water gently lapped at the boats always soothed me, the taut hitch of the ropes rising and falling with each small swell. A light breeze tinged with scent of brine and tar blew gently off the water; it laughed its way through the tangle of my hair, lifting it off my forehead in blessed relief.
A dream sequence begins with,"Water lapped at my hips, fresh and blue and brilliant. The sand slid through my toes, the song of some ancient wisdom caught up in the grinding of seashells beneath my heels. One step and then another and then I was floating, the waves cresting against my skin, salt water dripping from my hair. Warm and arching beneath the sun, I swam, dimly aware of the coastal shelf falling away beneath me."

Publishers Weekly
Abby Sinclair, the human TouchStone for Faery princess Moira, returns in a somewhat muddled second urban fantasy (after A Brush of Darkness) that sets a supernatural love triangle against the backdrop of a war between Faery and Hell. Abby is left to care for Moira’s half-angel child with the help of Moira’s outcast half-brother, Talivar, and Phineas, an obnoxious miniature unicorn. Then the half-mad Faery Queen closes the CrossRoads between worlds, leaving OtherFolk stranded on Earth to slowly fade away. Abby must face political machinations, the remnants of the Unseelie Court, and her painful family history while burdened by a tangled cast of minor characters and a tendency toward soap-opera angst, especially when she is torn between Talivar and her former lover, the incubus Brystion. Pang shines in her depiction of the lower-caste denizens of Faery and pulls her rather baroque conspiracy together with some coherence before a frustratingly abrupt and inconclusive ending. AWESOME. I just bought them
They have been put on hold though, as I must read the next Sabina Kane book! The Mage in Black (Sabina Kane Series #2). My goal is to finish this series before I dive into A Perfect Blood !!! I can hardly wait for this release- I have been avoiding all the chapter releases because I know if I start I won't want to stop!
But after A Perfect Blood, I'll then need to decide between Cat Adams series and the Elemental Assassins.... we'll see!!
