Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

new to paranormal romance.any sugestions?

Hi Everyone ,  I just started reading Lynsay Sands novels  and I'm  enjoying them, but I'm also curious as to which authors out there may be similar or I may like  far more. I like vampire romances and practically any romance that isn't gorey or extremely  x rated. Any suggestions?

Thank you and Have a great Day all! :smileyhappy:

In addition to the vampire romances and other series listed in thread linked above, i would definitely add to your romance/adventure category the Jane True series that starts with

Tempest Rising (Jane True Series #1); the Kate Daniels' series that starts with

Magic Bites (Kate Daniels Series #1); and the Guild Hunter series that begins with

Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter Series #1). Note, of the vamp romance series listed, I particularly recommend the Night Huntress series that begins with

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress Series #1); the Black Dagger Brotherhood series that begins with

Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood Series #1); and, the Cassie Palmer series that begins with

Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer Series #1)

Plus, if you really want to read a steamy romance, then you might enjoy

Pride Mates (Shifters Unbound Series). It's not x-rated, but it is intense, invigorating and extremely sensual.

(scratches head) You know almost half your list is already on my list. When's the last time you checked it? (chuckle)

These are not vampire paranormal romance but I think they're great choices

You know I had that Fallen in my TBR pile for well over a year now, for some reason I keep passing it. So it's good?

*Shrugs* I guess I wasn't clear. I'm simply recommending really good books that aren't on your list which I believe will be highly enjoyable based upon the request, and books that do appear on your list which I believe represent the best of the vamp romance/adventure genre.

Re: new to paranormal romance.any sugestions?

Thanks again :smileyhappy: I added them to my list to check out  . I also went to the web page that was provided and man oh man did I have fun writting them down to look for.  LOL . MY hands hurt from writing them in a notebook LOL but at least I have them to look at when I am ready to find more books . I do like different things and have an open mind.  I just dont really like some novels that are kind of racey to have everyother word a slang or dirrogatory word for diffeent parts of the annatomy and nothing that feel like I'm reading  pornography. I also looked into some werewolf and ghost novel/romance novels.  I think I may have found a few. Do you have any suggestions for those subjects as well, other than the ones listed ? I deeply appreciate the input, I never expected anyone to reply to me :smileyhappy: Thank you very much! :smileyhappy: I'm 28 and found reading enjoyable again after years of  putting it aside, so this is very nice for me to find people who can give me some insight on books and share some common interests .

I don't read a lot of werewolf series, but I do love Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson mystery series which features a shapeshifting protagonist, werewolf love interests, fae creatures, vampires and miscellaneous ghost. It's on TiggerBear's list and starts with

Moon Called (Mercy Thompson Series #1).

I also love the Rachel Morgan series that features a rebellious witch, her 'living vampire' roommate and her in-house pixie and family. Also, this one is on TiggerBear's list. It starts with

Dead Witch Walking (Rachel Morgan Series #1). Another truly superb series, also on TiggerBear's list, is the Hunter Kiss series. It features the last demon hunter, her pet demons, her proto-human boyfriend and really wonderful descriptions and intriguing conflicts starting with

The Iron Hunt (Hunter Kiss Series #1). Disregard the somewhat cliche cover, this series is truly something else. (Note, Marjorie M. Liu also writes excellent paranormal romance books.)

As far as ghosts go, I really like the noir mystery series written by Kat Richardson (also on TiggerBear's list) that starts with

Greywalker (Greywalker Series #1). Note, the latest installment, Labyrinth (Greywalker Series #5), was the best yet, IMO. Further, all the books in the series have excellent plots and supernatural elements. Further, Another ghost series that I love is Stacia Kane's Downside Ghosts series that starts with

Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts Series #1). The series is relatively new and only comprised of three books to date, so perhaps this would be a good choice for you. Note, the book was featured in this board as well as favorably reviewed in Exploration: The Fantasy & Sci-Fi blog. The protagonist is a drug-addicted church witch/exorcist/ghost debunker who leads a double life; the ghosts/horror/mystery elements are excellent; the romantic component is intriguing; the fantasy world building is superb and the mystery plots are extremely clever.
